  1. If we want Alisson enough we see off Chelsea. They aren’t the pull we are right now and Chelsea have a very uncertain future.
  2. I didn’t say last 2 seasons , I said last 12 months (about 2 and a half windows worth). And I kind of agree that we are unlikely to spend over £130m odd on a player but I thought your laughing about it implied that we were too conservative to do that. If we are, then we share that conservatism with all but about 2 clubs in Europe. That’s all I’m saying really. Yeah I agree . We were not far off starting last season with Keita and VVD. I wonder what we might have achieved had we done so. It would be nice to secure a Fekir and an Alisson this summer . Added to the business already done that would stand us in good stead for a title push.
  3. Our net spend since last July is around £80m and it would be at £140m today if there hadn’t been a problem with Fekir’s medical. And that wouldn’t have been the end of the spending, with a top keeper being sought as well we all know. There’s a reasonable chance LFC ‘s net spending since last July tops £200m by August. And that’s ignoring the ‘spend’ on massive new contracts required for our front 3.
  4. Only two teams in the world have spent over £100m on one player. We’ve spent £75m which is up they’re with the record spends of some very big teams . I don’t see what there’s to scoff at. Apart from the idea that Real will get that much for Ascensio. If he’s genuinely worth that, they wouldn’t sell him.
  5. He’s got plenty of pace .
  6. I like Shaqiri. He wouldn't be coming in for us to build the team around him, but as bonus player. He must have his flaws but he has days where he looks something approaching world class. He was fantastic against Serbia. We just need a bit of that every now and again.
  7. Yes. A square head and his sweet style. As a footballer he has everything a Championship level team needs. Lolz. £8-10m absolute max
  8. Shaqiri : 1) he’s clearly not s***. 2) Klopp must want him and rate him. If you hold those two truisms together and accept their primacy then the fragile prejudices we have are negated . Ergo - hurray, so much to look forward too.
  9. In my experience of them, LFCGlobe are THE most reliable of the non main stream media accounts. IIRC they are Norwegian based but have always had some good contacts. They post 'exclusives' very rarely, and I can't recall them being wrong, on the rare occasions they stick their neck out.
  10. I think much depends on the dynamic between seller and buyer. A seller positioning themselves as having no desire or need to sell (as Aulas does) won’t countenance any pre-deal enquiries.
  11. I think he organises the nights out when it’s someones birthday and orders the stationary.
  12. And some of that is because we haven't got Ian Ayre anymore. We now get not difficult deals done in timely fashion.
  13. Ian Ayre was shiit wasn’t he . Funny how things improved once he left.
  14. Lolz Keep going with that list ...
  15. All the dices were loaded against us. Too many highly unlikely negative things happened to us in the course of one match. When you say you've been unlucky, you normally mean you didn't get a pen, or they got a deflected goal. We mean one or two important moments went against us. Losing a player first half to injury is unlucky, but it happens. When it happens to your best player its very very unlucky. Your keeper making a mistake to give the opposition the lead in a 50/50 game is unlucky. When it's the worst mistake you've ever seen by a Liverpool keeper ever, and on a level that that particular keeper has never made before, then it's in the realm of freakishly unlucky. When one of theirs blams a worldy in from 25 yards, you curse your luck again. When he actually scores the greatest goal of anyone's career, you entitled to think 'why today of all days?'. And then when your keeper puts a bow on the whole debacle by all but throwing the ball in the net, you have to wonder what the odds would've been on predicting such a litany of misfortune.
  16. He was fine. Made a nice save, gets weight in his kicks and throws the ball out long distances fast and accurately. Looks a presence in the goal. That’s my scouting report.
  17. Twitter was the best and only place to get how the Fabinho transfer unravelled a week ago. From seemingly spurious links by French journalists we'd never heard of , to a full blown actual transfer in under 2 hours. Stuff of dreams.
  18. He’s the very essence of a waste of a place in our squad . I’d pick Brewster or Solanke ahead of him every day of the week , and I’d like us to be strong enough next season that they barely get a sniff.
  19. Now that's a joke that wants properly rolling out.
  20. Yeah, the majority see it as an 'adventure' but not a career long commitment. Our only concern is that the team continues to develop despite departures. That happened in the 70s and 80s and it happened post Michael Owen. We're largely scarred by 2009-2011 when we were in Hicks/Gilett induced decline and lost Alonso, Mascherano and Torres. Arguably we didn't go backwards post Torres and his leaving did herald the Suarez era and a near title win. The key is our succession management. 2 years ago our attacking options were Coutinho, a fading sturridge, a developing Firmino, Origi and Lallana. None of them were considered world class at the time, although Coutinho was moving in that direction. We started this season with 3 great forward players and a new signing who we hoped was going to provide solid cover for them. We're ending the season with a stronger attack than we perceived ourselves as having on August 1st, and that's depsite Coutinho's departure. The key is taking two steps forward for each one back. If we secure two attacking players this summer , who along with Keita, have the potential to be real stars then we are in a position to lose Salah. Where we have had problems in the past is in not having a conveyor belt of top talent, which made us desperate to hold into individuals and bereft of hope when they left.
  21. It was very disappointing at the time but it was not a scandal. It was no more 'a scandal' than not securing a defender in the summer window. A setback is not a scandal. Unless you can be certain that the right player was very gettable but the club passed on the opportunity for the wrong reasons, you can't call it a scandal.
  22. Yeah . I have crisps.
  23. Yeah absolutely. It's also the best thing that's happening when Liverpool aren't playing.
  24. It's very important that he never plays for Liverpool EVER again.
  25. He’s effectively a replacement for midfield Coutinho. Exactly this.
