I also think the defence isnt being protected enough. Lucas still working on his fitness and was never really quick (so he can cover more ground in short time), and Gerrard doesnt work very hard in tracking back anymore, so that means the middle is exposed to quick attacks and runners from deep. But I dont want us to play with two DM like Masch and Lucas. However, I also think our defenders made too many individual errors this season, like Carras against Zenit. I think the solution is an athletic CM and a top CB. but I dont know how can we add another player in the middle when Gerrard is there. I would love for us to get a new top CB. Varane for Madrid looks like a top CB and only 19.

but he is much much more dangerouse when he is going for his left. Look at both his goals today, they are just opening a path for him, in the second goal, the defender just shifts to his right the second Bale gets the ball. I mean, he rarely bursts through going to his right as he doesnt have a very good right foot. Its not like Ronaldo who also has a very very strong left foot. Great player, but the way teams defend against him is a joke. And Suarez is better. He scores more, he creates more and the things he does on the pitch are insane. Spurs wouldnt be fighting for top 4 without Bale? Where would we be without Suarez? He was basicaly our ONLY attacking outlet all season. the difference is Bale has more solid defence behind him. But he is getting very very good. 50m transfer for one of the giants doesnt seem that far fetched now. Will probably get player of the season as he is brittish.

Downing offers no end product yet many here seem to like him. Assaidi barely played, yet most have no problam saying he has no end product and even say he is a championship player. on what they are basing their opinions I have no idea. he actually looks kinda useful when he gets on the pitch. has pace, takes on players, doesnt cross the ball without even looking to the box to see if a cross is the best option like Downing..

he at least seems to try lately, but he doesnt really produce anything. wouldnt get anywhere near matchday squad for any of the top teams in the league. Cant wait to see him sold.

I thought he was a good striker (pace, good movement, good left foot) but his all round game is a surprise. he is a really good footballer. those little flicks with his back on goal to bring team mates into play.. If he keeps going the way he has since his move, he is a f**king steal at 12m!!

That was fun! Sturridge looks like a steal at 12m. that 3rd goal is one of the best team goals I have seen us score in a long long while. Barca would have been proud of that goal. We are looking good going forward, has been for some time really. Just need to sort the defending part (bug just I know). Shame about Borini, cant catch a break this kid. Feel sad for him.

Dont know why downing continues to get credit. Other than that, Im very excited about the lineup. On Carra starting, I understand those who say we should play with Skrtel and Agger. With Carra retiring, and Coates looks likely to go as well, I think we need to test Skrtel and Agger partnership. But Carra played well these last few games. To me it looks like Skrtel is also on his way out in the summer as Rodgers doesnt fancy him.

I think we were much more defensive last season then this season. the back 4 had much more protection. I dont know much about Williams, but I think we should look at Adul Rami from Valencia. He is strong, good in the air, has good pace and he is decent on the ball. Valencia are in big financial problams so maybe we can get him for a good price, he also knows what its like to win a championship.
