I too was watching that Balamory with my (just) one year old and when the animals went in two by two song came on she started bouncing all round the sofa. She's loved the Torres song since the first time I sung it to her months ago. She breaks into a huge grin of anticipation during the first verse, waiting for the second where she gets bounced up and down. There's also an advert on the telly that uses the tune and she bobs up and down to that as well, grinning from ear to ear. The best song to sing her to sleep is Poor Scouser Tommy so the girl is well on her way to being a proper red.

The England midfield star expected to have a medical this morning on Merseyside before joining the Reds on their pre-season tour to Switzerland. But those hopes were dashed when Villa boss Martin O’Neill angrily denied the two clubs were any closer to a deal — despite talks between Villa owner Randy Lerner and Kop chief executive Rick Parry. O’Neill said: “There is not a grain of truth in this story that the club or Randy Lerner agreed any deal with Liverpool. “We have waited over a week for them to come back to us and respond to our price for Gareth. “They know what it is but their original offer hasn’t changed.” Liverpool’s bid of £14million plus Steve Finnan or £15m cash still falls short of Villa’s £18m valuation. Lerner and Parry spoke last week after the Liverpool official contacted Villa to end the stalemate. A cup game only fancard for season ticket holders at £29 a year would raise money quickly. Are you in favour?

If the club announced next week that from now on you cannot buy cup games against your season ticket and that you will now need to pay £29 a year for a separate cup fan card would you be as sanguine about that as you seem to be about the recent developments?

So basically you’re saying that we should just shut up and accept any money making scheme G&H saddle the fans with? £29 a year to remain on the season ticket list….fine. Why not £40 a year? £100? At what point does it change from this fabled “marketing opportunity” and become a cash grabbing rip-off?

I've not had mine yet. I'm expecting it five days after the first league game of the season.

There is marketing potential and there is screwing fans who have no choice. £30 to stay on the season ticket list is firmly in the second category and I'm sure not the type of missed money making opportunity that people have legitimately complained about in the past.
