  1. Did you see on The Last Word that Andy Gray was criticising zonal marking for our goal (it will never work in England etc etc) and then failed to even give more than a passing mention about Newcastle and their man-to-man marking?
  2. I just watched the highlights from Match of the Day, and I didn't imagine that one! For virtually every passage of play shown in the highlights Gerrard had at least 10 yards of free space around him. After the 4-5th shot on goal you would think Kinnear would tell Butt or Guthrie to just not let Gerrard out of their sights. They were allowing Gerrard a free role to do whatever he wanted, but he just isn't one of those players that should be afforded that luxury when he is playing like that!
  3. I think their inability to even think about picking Gerrard up at any point during the game says a lot of things about them today (or Kinnear more so perhaps).
  4. Is he still in his warranty period or does anyone know where the receipt is?

  7. Are you awake or asleep at that point?
  8. I'm pretty sure Carra alludes to the same about Bellamy in his autobiography

  11. £4m for Carson too - a couple of months back people were valuing him at £10m, the other day it was £6m and now we are down to £4m?!
  12. Considering our interest in SWP in the past, the rumoured departure of pennant and the lack of decent wingers at the club I wonder why we aren't linked with him, especially at this price?

Maybe we do a deal whereby we drop our interest in Milner so Villa can sign him, and in return they drop their expectations from £18m so we can get barry for £12-£13m?

Which reminds me, did the FA ever do anything about Fergies comments from a few weeks back? I can't remember which game it was from now (FA cup?), but I think he basically called the referee a cheat?

  16. The BBC stole my figures!!! I may sue lol It is interesting to consider that even with the higher TV revenues kicking in this season, clubs have seen fit to all increase season ticket prices by a comparable amount (assuming the BBC figures from their investigation are correct)
  17. I always assumed that season tickets worked out cheaper per game - as thats part of the benefit of stumping the cash up front each season... but based on last seasons ticket prices the price of buying a ticket per match, and the cost for a season ticket holder per game seem roughly the same e.g. Anny road @ £690 over 19 home matches = £36.32 per ticket, whereas to buy the ticket normally costs £36 (plus your booking fee on top).
  18. That means it works out at £36.84 for each game if you are in the kop, or £39.47 per game for main stand/centenary. I am assuming non-season ticket holders will have to pay about £36-£37 for a kop ticket and £38-£39 for an anny road ticket. If anyone wants to know the season ticket prices were last year you can get the information from this site: http://web.archive.org/web/20070713101505/...kets/season.htm Looks like it is a £50 increase across the board, which works out at about a 7% increase
  19. Surely we didn't buy Babel & Torres on Hire Purchase?! It would be rather amusing to have the baliffs come round during a match to try and seize the assets used against the loan...
  20. I've not really read TTWAR for quite a while, but it always reminds me of the time that I nearly got suspended from school... I was in first year of school (1993?) and we had to make a pencil case and draw on a design/picture/pattern to the front of it. At this point in time my uncle used to take me the match and give me his old copies of TTWAR, so I decided to use an image from the latest edition for my pencil case frontage. I don't think I really got the joke from the image, but it was taking a pop at Everton so I thought it may be mildly ammusing. After proudly submitting my handywork to the teacher it was at this point that she had to go and seek advice from the headmaster. Apparently the image of three everton fans, with one in full klu klux klan regalia, infront of a burning cross was not suitable for school. Needless to say my dad wasn't too impressed...and I don't remember ever getting a second hand copy of TTWAR off my uncle from that point on either...
  21. I can almost certainly guarantee that no major financial institution would give 100,000 people preferential treatment to lend £5k to purchase Liverpool. Although in theory the risk is spread across 100,000 people - none of this debt would be secured against the asset that is actually worth anything (i.e. the club). So it would just be 100,000 unsecured personal loans. Most major financial institutions won't lend for the purchase of shares anyway, so you would have to approach a specialist lender or the corporate arm of a retail bank.

    Mascherano

I've heard that the £17m fee also includes his wages for the contract? Is this true, or just completely made up?
  23. Are there any free offers still kicking around? There used be two months free but the link no longer seems to work

  25. I didn't have a chance to see it properly at the game, but having seen it just then on MOTD, I think it should have been a straight red! He was lucky to still be on the pitch!
