  1. Surely a contradiction in terms there!!
  2. This guy? Official Site Liverpool schoolboy Sean Highdale is tonight hoping to become the latest player from the Academy to gain international recognition. The Halewood-born central midfielder is currently away with England under-16s preparing for the Victory Shield contest against Northern Ireland in Ballymena. His first international call is a just reward for the fine form he's shown for the Reds under-16 side at the Kirkby-based youth complex this season. Academy coach Dave Shannon said: "We are all delighted. It is a great opportunity. If he stays level headed and he continues to work hard it will be a good experience for him," said Shannon. Highdale is excited at the prospect of representing the country and has thanked all the coaches at the Academy for the help they've given him. "The call took me completely by surprise. I am sure that I will be nervous before the game," added the 15-year old college student. "I joined the party in Coventry on Sunday for two days training and from there we flew to Northern Ireland. It really is very exciting and I am made up. "I want to thank my mum and dad for bringing me training to Kirkby all these years. Also, I owe a lot to all the Academy coaches, especially my current under-16 team manager Dave Shannon, and Academy director Steve Heighway for all the help they have given me. "I think the reason I got selected was because of my tackling and passing. I am working hard to improve my pace and goalscoring." Tonight's game is live on Sky Sports (kick-off 7.45pm). .......... He played last night in a 3-0 win
  3. Surely the tactic against ARsenal would be not to keep too high a line allowing space in behind for the pace of Henry etc. Therefore if we defend deeper and make things tight at the back there's no need for extra pace at the back so would go for Hyypia. If Adebayor plays we will also need Hyypia's arial ability.
  4. Or will this injury force Rafa into the transfer market this January for a CM? IMO Rafa may well have done this in the summer and let Zenden go. This way he may just bring it forward 6 months?
  5. The next Martins!
  6. Maybe something for end of the season then?
  7. Agger Alonso Gonzalez Great effort's from Paletta, Peltier and Zenden too had a decent game.
  8. Looks like 2-3 weeks minimum for Momo then according to physio room Treatment It is important that a shoulder dislocation is seen quickly by a doctor who can put the joint back in place. This is because the position of the Humerus in a dislocated shoulder joint can cause damage to the Axillary nerve and the Auxiliary artery. This can lead to a loss of sensation and muscle strength in the affected arm. Pain relieving medication prescribed by a doctor can help to relieve the shoulder pain. Ice packs can be applied to the injured shoulder for 20 minutes every two hours (never apply ice directly to the skin). The ice packs relieve pain and reduce bleeding in the damaged tissue. The Aircast Cryocuff is the most effective method of providing ice therapy and is the professional's choice for shoulder injuries. It can provide continuous ice cold water and compression for up to 8 hours and significantly reduce shoulder pain and swelling. Once the shoulder has been put back in place it is immobilised using a sling. The sling is kept on for about 2 to 3 weeks, during which time it is important that the elbow, wrist and fingers are kept moving to prevent them stiffening up. Active rehabilitation is started as soon as possible but overhead arm movement and sporting activity should be avoided for at least 6 weeks. Gentle range of movement exercises under the supervision of a Chartered PhysiotherapistChartered Physiotherapist A member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, signified by the initials MCSP. can be started once the sling is removed. Strengthening exercises for the Rotator Cuff muscles should be started as soon as they can be done without pain. These can be done at home using resistance bands. Because of the damage to the structures surrounding the shoulder, there is a high chance of recurrent dislocation. Surgery on an unstable shoulder is usually required after four dislocations. Find out more about surgery on an unstable shoulder. Following a shoulder dislocation and shoulder surgery many people find that a neoprene shoulder support helps to provide added reassurance. They also assist with shoulder stability by providing sensory input that improves shoulder proprioceptionProprioception The mechanism by which nerve receptors in skin, muscle, ligament and joint tissue relay information to the brain about body position sense, where this information is quickly processed and movement strategies are formulated and executed using nerve signals to muscles..

  10. Don't you mean Darren Bent!
  11. I wonder what will become of Scott Carson, especially if this link is true: Sky Sports Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is being linked with a raid on old club Valencia for goalkeeper Ludovic Butelle. Reports emanating from France claim Liverpool are pondering a move for the former Metz ace. Benitez is a big admirer of the Frenchman having signed him while he was in charge at Valencia before moving onto Liverpool. Butelle has struggled to establish himself at Valencia with Santiago Canizares the number one goalkeeper at La Mestalla. Liverpool could be in the market for a new goalkeeper with Chris Kirkland having sealed his permanent move to Wigan last month. There are also doubts over the long-term futures of Scott Carson and Jerzy Dudek at Anfield. Carson is currently on loan at Charlton, while Dudek is thought to be frustrated with his lack of first team opportunities. Benitez might turn to Butelle to bolster his goalkeeping options if he decides to let Dudek or Carson leave.
  12. BBC France striker Djibril Cisse is planning to return to first-team action in the next week or so after recovering from a broken right leg. Cisse, who is on loan at Marseille from Liverpool, suffered the injury while playing for France against China in a World Cup warm-up game in June. The 25-year-old told France Football: "I should be back into competitive football by mid-November." Cisse also broke his left leg when playing for the Reds in October 2004. He has taken about five months to recover from the injury on both occasions and predicted it will not be long before he gets back to full fitness. "I want to bring Marseille back as high as possible even if I've missed the beginning of the season," added Cisse. "I know that I'm going to be back to my best. "After my first injury, it took me one month to get back on top. It should be the same this time." Cisse finished top scorer in Ligue 1 in 2002 and 2004 and Marseille will be hoping he can match those exploits to help them regain some form after three defeats. "I have to bring some panache, try things people will not always understand," said Cisse. ........... Good luck to the lad, no-one deserves 1 leg break like he suffered let alone 2 so close together and missing the World Cup. Do yourself justice and then you can secure your move to Marseille and free up some transfer funds for us next summer!
  13. Snippets from Dudek coming in from the cold By Ian Doyle Daily Post JERZY DUDEK is poised to step out of the Anfield wilderness for Liverpool's Carling Cup assignment at Birmingham City tomorrow night. The Polish goalkeeper, who has yet to make a first-team appearance this season, is being considered for a recall by Rafael Benitez after serving a three-match ban following his sending-off in the mini-derby against Everton last month. And...... Anfield manager Benitez will again ring the Carling Cup changes for the visit to St Andrews, with the likes of Craig Bellamy, Robbie Fowler, Stephen Warnock, Gabriel Paletta, Daniel Agger and Mark Gonzalez vying for a starting role.
  14. I doubt he was drinking as Muslims are forbidden to drink (alcohol).
  15. He looks like a great prospect and a brilliant shot stopper. IMO he needs to be playing regularly to keep his form up as with any keeper I suppose. I would like to see him command his area a bit more as he's ceratinly got the presence to do so.
  16. Dudek Peltier Paletta Agger Warnock Pennant Guthrie Zenden Gonzalez Bellamy Fowler Given Guthrie's competent performance last time out I think he deserves to start and plus with the Arsenal game in mind I wouldn't want anything to happen to Sissoko.
  17. I've come back from matches where people who were at the game seem to have watched a different match. Likewise I've watched games on telly and spoken to people who wwatched it on TV and seem to have watched different games. It's all how you perceive something and a matter of opinion.
  18. What was Dudek doing behind the goal? I'll get me coat!!

    Momo

Momo - The Big Interview Be honest: had you heard the name Momo Sissoko before his arrival from Valencia in the summer of 2005? Probably not. However, the Malian international soon established himself as a firm Kop favourite, his no-nonsense approach ensuring he inherited Didi Hamann's mantel of midfield enforcer with aplomb. So, how's he finding life in England? In our latest Big Interview, Momo talks about yellow cards, his admiration for Robbie Savage, and The Banana Splits. Oh, and he reveals who took the chequered flag when the Liverpool players went go-karting. You've been here well over a year now. What are the best and the worst things about this living in England? I'd say the best thing is that when you arrive at every stadium and go on to the pitch the fans are fantastic. For me, the worst thing is the weather. The best thing about Liverpool is when the fans sing my name. I'm very happy in Liverpool, the club and my teammates. You mentioned the fans singing your name. The tune to the Mo Mo Mo song comes from a kids TV show called The Banana Splits ? have you seen it? No, never. Maybe I will! Which players helped you settle into life at Liverpool? Every player. I'm young and all the time I learn things, especially with Stevie and Xabi Alonso. For me this is something special. I have good feelings with everybody ? with Carragher as well, with Garcia, with Pepe Reina. Who is the loudest member of the Liverpool dressing room? Carragher talks a lot. I can understand him now but it's difficult. How do you spend your time when you are not training? I sleep a lot! I go to the town centre quite a lot too. I like clothes so I go shopping. The squad went go-karting earlier this week ? who won? Bolo won and I came last! It was the first time I'd been karting so for me it's normal to finish last. Bolo was good and Sami was very good as well. Rafa signed you for Liverpool after bringing you through the ranks at Valencia. Has he become a father figure to you? Rafa is the one for me because he gave me my break in the first team when I was 17-years-old. He was the first to give me a chance and for me he is something special. I respect him a lot. Are there any aspects of your game you would like to improve? I want to improve all the time, during every training session. I need to learn a lot of things but I am a young player and I am learning all the time. I would like to improve my shooting. You're yet to score for Liverpool ? how bothered are you about that? I want to score but my objective is to play well every game and win every game. I'm not especially bothered about goals. I just want to show everybody that I play well. What do you make of the comparisons to Patrick Vieira? For me this is good. It is a big comparison. When people say I am like him it makes me happy. My heroes when I was young were Zidane and Patrick Vieira especially. Who has been your toughest opponent in the Premiership? I like to play against Robbie Savage because he is there all the time. He is a good guy ? I like him. Do you have any superstitions when you go out on to the pitch? Yes. I always go out left foot first. I don't know why but I've done it since I was a boy. A lot has been made about the number of yellow cards you receive, and Rafa has come out to say he feels you are treated unfairly. Is that how you feel? The story is finished for me. I bring a lot of yellow cards but when you play as a central midfielder you need to defend every ball. I'm not going to change my style of playing. I just want to play football, enjoy my football and win a lot of titles. Many Liverpool fans probably aren't aware that you have 14 brothers and sisters. Can we expect to see another Sissoko in a Red shirt one day? Maybe! I have a younger brother playing in the first division for West Brom and I have told him to work hard. There are others ? my brother Abdul plays in France for Auxerre. You chose to play for Mali ahead of France - why? I decided to play for Mali because that's what my heart told me. Now a lot of people know Mali because I play for Liverpool and other players too ? Diarra plays for Madrid. What's been the highlight of your career so far? The best thing was in Spain winning La Liga, the UEFA Cup and the Super Cup when I was 18-years-old. Finally, you feared you may never play again after that horrific eye injury in Benfica. What would you do if you could no longer play football? That's a good question. I really do not know what I would have done. I'm better now and this makes me very happy because this injury for me and my family was very bad. I'm just thankful that I'm playing again and playing for Liverpool. My eye sight is back to 100 per cent now.
  22. Uriah Rennie Not the attention seeker that some are but he just doesn't have a clue.
  23. Sissoko is one yellow away from a suspension. If he gets booked v Reading would he miss the Brum game in the League Cup or the Arsenal game in the league. Likewsie if he gets booked agianst Brum would he miss the Arsenal game or would it just be in that competition?
