  1. That's true. Although to be fair, nearly all the pundits are crap. I've rarely heard anything said by any of them that I agree with and hadn't though of myself whilst shoving 10 pints down my gullet.. ie - it's either complete nonsense or blatantly obvious. I quite like Lee Dixon. His sort of tactical analysis on MOTD and on the bbc website is the sort of thing I like. For once someone has avoided being just airtime filler (so far). I like Taylor and Pleat because at least they offer some insight into the tactical side of the game - of which they have actual working knowledge - unlike the opinionated sensationalised s*** served up by Keys, Gray et al.
  2. Ex managers rather than ex players. It's not hard is it? Even Big Ron was worth a laugh until he went all racist...
  3. Thought the same at the time. AND can see that Keane would have fitted better with Barry in the side too.
  4. Aye, In my crystal ball I can't see Lucas playing. That line up above is what I think we'll play. Although I think we'll miss masch if Everton get their way and turn it into a midfield mud fight.

  6. I really don't see what the problem is (well I can but there shouldn't be one) with offering him a long term £70,000 pw deal. To get someone else in of comparable quality would most probably cost more in the long run.
  7. Saw that on SSN. Hilarious. If it's not about money can we have him then?
  8. I hope they're not playing chicken.
  9. The only signing I want this January is Daniel Agger.
  10. I thought that meself. A gerrard / barry centre pairing with Mascherano holding, would have worked with kuyt / Keane / Torres. One of the reasons I thought replacing Alonso with Barry was that Barry would offer more width allowing us to play without an orthodox left mid, much like with do on the right with kuyt / gerrard. It would also have helped Babel. I'd be surprised if we weren't on the lookout for a player who can play like that. If we're not still in the market for Barry in summer. At a cheaper price presumably which would allow us to keep Alonso in the squad too.
  11. s****. We didn't bottle it. Stoke is a f***ing hard place to go. It's was all about the result, we were never gonna go there and blitz it. Unlike Man U there, we just didn't get lucky...
  12. Stoke is vandalised full stop. It's in it's essence. A higher power with a super broom should brush it under the magic carpet before it does any more damage to this green and pleasant land. Not sure a few hundred seats makes any difference.

  14. Yeah, but there's a difference between affray threatening violence or even being involved in a scuffle and affray where someone gets really harmed, perhaps not technically in law, but certainly in terms of sentencing.
  15. Was her name Bobitski?
  16. Indeed. There's also intent. I doubt Gerrard had any intent before entering the affray of causing or helping to cause any real harm to the lad. There's a big difference between t***ting someone in the heat of the moment and going after someone to give them a t***ting.
  17. I agree. This sort of thing happens all the time in towns and cities every night and very few of the offenders end up behind bars. Those that do are persistent offenders and/or those that have caused serious and permanent damage to others. The laws on "assault" aren't straightforward but what doesn't go in Stevie's favour is that there were more of them than there was of the alleged victim. It's the affray which is the more serious charge. Unless the CCTV is entirely conclusive, with multiple assailants it would be very difficult to prove that it was Gerrard who actually caused injury, however if found guilty of affray leading to the assault, he'll be held jointly culpable for any injuries sustained. Having been a victim of a multiple assault myself (and not just by Sue Ellen) I can tell you that affray is sometimes (And quite rightly) harshly dealt with - lads who never touched me but chased me down were given 6 month custodial sentences. If it was one on one and he wasn't famous, I doubt he'd have got anything other than a caution.

  19. He's been at Burton for 10 years and has been well backed with a new stadium and vast amounts of money compared to their peers. He even got that glamour tie and a replay vs the mancs which must have helped attract players. Will be interesting if he can swim as well in a bigger pond and without armbands. Good luck to him / them. Especially in the FA Cup.
  20. I wasn't convinced Dossena would be leaving this jan until the pound plummeted v the euro. I thought he'd be here at least 'till the summer to see if he could acclimatise. Now I can't see us turning down offers equivalent or close to the money we paid. Not now Insua has proved he can hold his own and especially if we're in for a new right back, which would free Arby to cover LB, and Carra at a push.
