Liverpool vs Bournemouth - Premier League, 19th August @ 3pm

There was a little about this on Ref Watch. Seemed to me like Warnock and Gallagher had already discussed it off camera though. Essentially about the clear and obvious error part of VAR. Warnock arguing that this has to be changed so VAR judges if the ref has made a correct/incorrect decision rather than judging if, from the refs POV he’s made a clear error. There is a slither of difference between the two and that is what Tierney will be hiding behind the ****. Gallagher also went onto say when asked if Liverpool should appeal, that we would be have to convince the panel that it was a clear and obvious error. Which again is balls. I can understand VAR not being the ultimate arbiter of close decisions, but the panel clearly needs to be looking at, especially in the case of red cards, if the correct decision was made. surely, they can’t look at that and say, yeah, that’s a red and he should be banned for another 3 games. https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/12944532/ref-watch-was-alexis-mac-allister-unlucky-to-see-red-for-liverpool -

Gallagher says it’s not a red for him but we’d have to convince the panel that is was a clear and obvious error. hopefully that’s the open door to get it rescinded. -

Nah. It’s not violent conduct, which does carry a 3 match ban. It’s serious foul play, which last time I checked is a 1 match ban. Which they can extend. one of the things they extend it for is a frivolous appeal, but I don’t think it would be. Don’t think it wilL be overturned though. -

Lol. We're just feeding on scraps aren't we? We need to start buying players outside of the PL again.
-
Yeah. I do feel sorry for them though. They've sold themselves out. We'll still be here in however long. When they get relegated, this is one of the bricks.
-
Part of why they were so attractive to investors was they hadn't and couldn't buy players because of their embargo. These have taken it to an new level though. I sort of see their MO. Players will get more expensive. So buy young expensive ones now.
-
way to sell yourselves out Brighton.
-
Yeah, also the agent will want to keep Chelsea sweet given their spending habits. Us, maybe not so much.
-
To be honest, I'd be more worried if they were still talking about our bid. It's done. Nothing further to talk about. The details and their merits are perfectly fine where they are, between us and Brighton.
-
Aye, but maybe the wages they're offered him are part of the reason why they can't agree his fee. Either way, his preference is moot until Chelsea agree the other part. And I don't blame him or his agents for holding out to see if Chelsea can. And similarly to the fee situation with Brighton, we would have to do more than match Chelsea's personal and agents terms to change that, there would be be a premium on top for the agent to lose some of his credibility.
-
Yeah, totally agree. Thing is though, if Chelsea can't agree a fee, the club he would prefer to go to becomes us. And ultimately Brighton hold his registration, so the choice of which club he goes to isn't his or his agents. Their choice as it stands is stay at Brighton or go to Liverpool. I wonder if given the choice he'd still prefer to go to Arsenal?
-
Sorry @stressederic mate. No offence intended!
-
Nah, the player wants to leave brighton and might prefer to go to Chelsea, esp given it seems their wages are higher. I’m sure he’d be over the moon to sign for us on deadline day rather than stay at brighton.
-
The deals can't be independent from each other as it would chelsea buying both. I think Darmesh is a bit of a simpleton. Or his target market for this drivel is simpletons.
-
Yep. And Chelsea's recent MO has been to agree very large total transfer fees spread over the length of long player contracts. So much so that rules about doing that have had to be tightened. That's how they're attempting to manage "spending" about a billion quid over the last year or so and still being FFP compliant. If we've offered enough up front, or a much shorter schedule than Chelsea can manage then they're going to find it very hard to find an agreement with Brighton, even offering a significantly greater total fee. They'll still likely be having to spread it over as long a duration as they can. On top of which, like I said earlier, it's not in Brighton's interest to do a deal with Chelsea. Even if Chelsea could match our deal exactly, or even slightly better it, it's still in their interest to preserve the integrity of the their bidding process in case they have similar situation with another player, which given that they rely on buying and selling players like Caceido with murky ownership and agents to survive in the PL, isn't that unlikely. So I think Chelsea will have to stump up a much higher transfer fee to get an agreement. Not £115m for example. That won't cut it. Chelsea will mess around trying all sorts of financial trickery and might eventually find a solution, but if they don't Caceido will sign for us on deadline day.
-
They do. They also have to sign a forward, given that Nkuku is out for the foreseeable and a new keeper as Kepa is going to At. Madrid on loan and they've sold Mendy. They can't just max out their card on Caicedo. I've a feeling this will go all the way to deadline day.
-
Funny how Chelsea can make bids that have the numbers in them that clubs value their players at, and yet neither Brighton or Soton have accepted them. almost as if Chelsea saying “we will pay you in 5 years time” isn’t okay with everyone except Chelsea.
-
Yep. chelsea will be trying to sell someone. Lukaku maybe. They ducked out of the mooted swap deal with him and vlahovic. spurs have money to spend on a striker.
