  1. I agree totally, i've seen Pennant play a few times and he is not up to our level, if he's the answer I dont even want to know the question
  2. True, but my impression (probably reading too much into it) was that it was a similar reaction to questions about other players we have gone on to subsequently sign, usually when Rafa isnt interested in a player he just flat out denies interest.
  3. Anybody else catch Rafa's comment on Aguerro on .tv?
  4. It would tie in to what Elisha was saying last week in the Mittal thread, something is a brewing me thinks
  5. If this happened then fecks sake, we would have possibilities
  6. Paul Merson isnt in North London anymore is he?
  7. Reina Finnan Carra Sami JAR Stevie Momo Xabi Kewell Moro Crouchy
  8. [i think we all know we really cant compete for a player like Walcott at the prices talked about, its hard to stomach especially for the club our size but Rafa has to cut his cloth according to our budget. If the financial restrictions werent there then I'm sure we would have gotten into this 'auction', this is not Parry's fault either, The underlying fact is our club is in severe need of a cash injection, my fear is that Moores has fallen into that comfort zone (by winning the Champs league) losing the impetus on seeking new investment as he prolly feels Rafa will bail him out with his superb maangerial skills - This is unfair on Rafa, he is being asked to compete at the highest level with one hand tied behind his back - I'm sure he would love to have the luxury to invest in the potential of Walcott, but reality of the financial situation at the club prevents him from doing so, will he tire of this soon? That is a serious risk that the club has to consider Recenetly, nearly every transfer has become a saga, haggling to the last minute
  9. Leo, is it a gut feeling or something more then that to make you think he'ell end up with us, I was excited a couple hours ago but that lastest BBC report does seem to think Arsenal is a shoe-in
  10. This is fecking depressing if true, FIFA or UEFA has to do something to stop these c****
  11. Mate, I respect your POV and i'm not one of those who say f*** Owen just b/c he left us. I just truely believe as a player he is very limited, if we signed him it would change the style of play the team has right now, it would be a lot more of the early balls in behind with a lot of the time possesion being surrendered - Our midfield this year has been far more infuluential in an attacking sense b/c Moro and Crouch give them the platform, they hold the ball up, they make clever passes - Owen cannot provide that. My objection to signing Owen is purely on that reason, I dont disagree that we are in need of a goal scorer, but why not try to sign a striker who is more complete player, there are others out there aprt from Owen
  12. I'd take Moro any day of the week over Owen, Moro has the ability to link the play up between midfield and attack (big reason for our success this year and Stevie's evolution as a player) something Owen is abysmal at. Owen is a one trick pony, he's a good finisher but all he can do is try to get in behind, he is a very limited player in every other dept. The morbid one dimensional brand of football we played under GH was solely there to utilise Owen's sole threat ......... and people want to go back to that?!?!
  13. What is the fascination with Owen? if we sign him we take a step back IMO, better off w/o
  14. I would be made up if we signed Walcott
  15. Such news would be like a d-agger thru my heart
  16. Lets cut out agger-o boys, it should be concluded shortly
  17. Our books must be in some type of shape when 2 potential investers get as far as the due dilligence phase and basically balk at going ahead with the proposed deals, I just hope there is someone out there who can pump some money into the club. All our manager needs is some type of even playing field and he'll take us to the promise land.
  18. Agreed, dont want him - He doesnt fuction well in team play, fair enough he can put the ball in the net but he can only play one way, looking for balls in behind - Crouchy and Moro give the likes of Stevie & Xabi the platform they need to do their stuff in the last third - Owen just cannot offer that
