If and when we sign Torres then all the other peices will fall into place, sometimes we can be overly negative about the team but there isnt a lot wrong with it. Torres would be the centre peice, a marquee player who has a chance to improve and grow under Rafa's supervision. He has all the physical attributes to thrive in this league and i'm sure Rafa will improve his technical and tactical play. Ballague indicated in AS yesterday the Malouda could be a possibility next week as well .......... exciting times (if it comes off) ....... I just hope we dont get entrenched in some melodramatic transfer that extends to the deadline

To be fair to Hicks, the Texas Rangers problems are not really down to him b/c as an owner over the last 10 years he has spent comparably to most of the other larger market teams. Its not an issue of bad ownership moreover it has more to do with poor management decisions (they've made some awful trades), poor player development - their farm system (academy) which most MLB teams rely heavily on hasnt produced enough players and poor drafting. The Rahgers historically over the last 10 years havent developed very many good pitchers and to add to this double edged sword their ballpark is probably in the 2 or 3 most hitter friendly parks around, poor ptiching and HR happy ballpark makes for a bad combo Hicks has drawn back from spending silly money as he did earlier simply b/c it hasnt workled for them, they've changed GM 3 times over the last few years (which is a lot) and it looks like there will be a firesale this summer with a lot of their top players (Teixiera, Gagne.........) will be traded off for prospects. fvds, you can choose to ignore all the noises we're hearing from different sources but i cant, we were going for Malouda now we've switched to Benayoun, I'd like to be positive but its not possible. What also strikes as being odd, rafa is known for meticulous preperation, if he was interested in Benayoun from way before surely the way the transfer market works his agent would of known about it long before, so how come he signed a 5 year extension with west ham. It strikes me (and I will admit if im wrong) that rafa has been forced to change targets b/c the budget isnt what he expected it to be
