He was great about four or five years ago. He's finished now at that level. I was fuming at him at the end of the season for what I thought was carelessness but he's just done. The best ye can hope from him is a mediocre performance.

Yes he can still fulfill his potential as a very good defender despite his injury problems and desperate lack of games the last few years. It's no use for him to be sitting on the bench hoping to get a few minutes here and there, he needs to be playing every week particularly because of the amount of time he has missed.
