City this season remind me a bit of us in Klopp's last season. Didn't quite have the legs for the full title race and just dropped away at the end when the chance was there to grab it.
Haaland's form has fallen off a cliff and there's nothing left around him to pick up the pieces.
Comparing City's squad now with a few seasons ago is mad. They've let some very good players go and replaced them with the likes of Savinho who is basically a nothing player.
Yeah these are fair points are arguments. The Salah one is clearly a massive problem, partly because we've never really had or needed someone else who can play out there.
Salah is never injured so you don't need/want another super effective attacking right forward. But the version we currently have is brutal to watch at times.
Personally I'd stick Rio out there to see what he can do, but I know that's a big call on multiple fronts.
When the wheels really came off and Salah got dropped it seemed obvious that Slot was trying to stop the bleeding and make us much more secure. The problems came whenever we opened up even a fraction the players went to s*** again. Our constant inability to protect 2 goal leads and stop conceding last minute goals was ridiculous. We've still not really managed to transition back into playing something resembling decent football again.
And some of that is definitely on Slot. But f*** me the players don't help themselves at times. The decisionmaking and just dreadful play at times is continually unacceptable.
Yeah I think we probably have been but, similar to Klopp's team in 22/23, it looks like the legs have gone for some of our players. I don't think any of us was expecting the likes of Alexis, Salah, and Gakpo to drop off so dramatically.
