of course not, why would you I honestly don't know - this is memory we're talking about not opinion. But I'd say it's definitely possible. Some incidents are so high profile or memorable that they stick in the mind regardless of time, such as Maradona as I mentioned in a previous post. Now his hand of god incident I'm likely to remember because I had a vested interest at the time, which might make my memory biased. I imagine a lot of non-English people might say his second goal in that game, because it was a belter, but my indignation at the first goal pushes it into second. This goes back to a point I made earlier - Maradona, Cantona (and all sorts of other players) had the opportunity to create new memories after their respective handball/kicking incidents. Zidane doesn't have that opportunity so it's more likely that the headbutt will stick in peoples mind, especially when you don't see some players on a regular basis so you have less to go on

He's a great player no doubt, but as I said before that incident will likely be the one that I remember first when someone mentions Zidane. His volley in the CL final being the second - it would have been the first before last night. I imagine I won't be the only one and that's a pity when he was such a good player. Yes, cos he did that during the WC final with billions of people watching on TV When I think of Bobby Moore I think of that brilliant tackle (on Pele I think). That's his defining memory, in my eyes anyway. Lots of people will have other memories I'm sure, and that's fine, but I imagine most people will either think of that tackle, or him sat on players shoulders holding the World Cup. Every player has memorable moments, good or bad, but when the moment is a headbutt and red card in the WC final -your last ever game - it's bound to leave a lasting impresion on a lot of people. or maybe I'm just being Ridiculous? Hot air?

well i hate to disappoint you, but i'm a 'real' football fan. in my eyes at least if not yours. I've only seen Zidane in CL or WC games, and the odd Spanish/italy match. That might not be as much as some, but I imagine most people (even real fans) will have a similar level of exposure. Or did you mean Real (Madrid) fans? For that reason, When someone mentions Zidane, I'll remember that incident over anything else he's done. In the same way someone mentions Maradona and I'll think of the hand of god before anything else. Great player, but when an incident like that happens in his last game then it's bound to cast a shadow. Maradona had years of football in him after his '86 moment, to create different memories - His second goal in that game being a good start. Zidane has nothing.

why do you love zidane so much? All of your comments come across as blind loyalty despite the facts although provoked, what he did was totally unnaceptable and deserved the red card. I'm actually warming to the fact of Pennant over Alves, especially if it means we can get Kuyt. If Cash is an issue it's a good option. Pennant is a cheap, proven player who I like, and there's no real equivalent cheap striker if we get Alves. Also, Pennant would be less risky in terms of settling in. This Heskey thing - dunno whether to laugh or believe it! Has to be said though, IF (IF, IF) Rafa could work his best miracle yet and get the best out of Heskey then he could be a great signing. But has there been anything at all from the club that this is actually an option? It's all well Heskey saying he'd wait, but are we interested or have we encouraged this?
