  1. Totally different and unique circumstances though wasn’t it, like having no defenders, hardly having £400m spent on improvement of the squad then going on the worst run in 70years. That Klopp argument is one of the most disingenuous of all the defences being offered for the current s*** show This season isn’t last season. This season is the worst it’s been for a very very long time and comparisons to Hodgson are fair to an extent only Hodgson had much much much worse squad available to him
  2. Yep, which allows them to get into their defensive shape and difficult break down. We never catch anyone on the break or ou of position anymore . How many times in the past did we turn around a defensive position into scoring with 2 or 3 passes? It’s a s*** style of play, like Manchester City light from about 6 years ago, only executed much less effectively and at about a third of the speed. To make matters worse they abandoned that style themselves ages ago. We’ve got loads of quality it just isn’t utilised properly
  3. Hodgson never lost 9 in 12
  4. How can the people running the club fail to see what everyone else can that he’s completely clueless and incapable of sorting this mess? It’s indefensible to allow this to continue but clearly points toward larger issues of competence throughout the club. Arne Slot: "We were very close with Virgil, but we didn't and this season multiple times we have conceded a goal in a game like this and that's a positive thing today. "We kept a clean sheet and that's why we have a draw today." (Sky Sports) Shut up. A home draw with Leeds Utopia!!
  5. We could and a good chance we will lose both, he’ll still cling on though. Slot and Hughes need to go now. Both are out of their depth
  6. They’re both better. We’ll struggle against both
  7. Not in that last season, but yeah before that. Resuslts were better as well
  8. Should have been sacked months ago, should be sacked now. Performances not getting any better.
  9. Anybody who thinks that this in terms of performance is any sort of improvement is mental
  10. Drying paint would watch us to fall asleep
  11. David Lynch on the shambles You did not have to be close to the inner workings of Liverpool Football Club to deduce that the club’s set-piece coach Aaron Briggs was under pressure this season. Arne Slot could not keep himself from constantly mentioning in press conferences and embargoed briefings that his team would not have been in quite as bad a position were it not for their weakness from corners and free-kicks. And the fact is he was right, given that no team in Europe’s top five leagues has conceded more than the Reds’ 12 goals from such situations, while their three scored is the second worst record in the Premier League. It was considered controversial by some to point out that, ultimately, this wasn’t Slot’s responsibility, even if his title of head coach implies oversight of every aspect. But the Dutchman found himself in a difficult position whereby any intervention on set-pieces might have left him open to accusations of not allowing a fellow coach to carry out his remit. Instead, he almost had to let the situation deteriorate to this point before sporting director Richard Hughes - who, of course, appointed Briggs - would be forced to act. That point has now arrived and, in truth, we should perhaps not be surprised by how this particular Anfield career has played out. Briggs is said to be well-regarded behind the scenes at the AXA Training Centre and was part of a title-winning coaching staff last season but, in reality, his duties always felt somewhat cobbled together. The Englishman initially arrived to replace Vitor Matos as a key link between academy and first team, but was then immediately given oversight of set-pieces almost as an afterthought. And there was at least a whiff of sidelining in the decision to make the set-piece aspect full-time this summer as Luis Fernando Iubel was appointed individual lead coach.
  12. Feels a bit Rodger’s scapegoating his coaches, but also needed to do something about the set piece situation. Wonder who pushed him into the role he clearly had no experience of and was evidently not qualified to undertake?
  13. For me, although the results have improved recently, and if you looked at them in isolation you could argue we’ve turned a corner and are over the worst run of form in living memory. The reality however is that the performances haven’t gotten any better, the same mistakes are happening, the lack of any style or dynamic way of playing remains, tactically we are still inept, the midfield is still porous, we remain a shambles at the back, we’re slow, and don’t score enough. All of which will catch up with us as soon as we play a decent side if we serve up what we did on Saturday. It feels really fragile, almost as though we are walking a tight rope in high winds, and could come falling off anytime. I could seriously see us having another run of really poor results this season, and I think that is far more likely than us going on a prolonged winning streak. Which considering we’re the champions who spent over £400m in the summer is a woeful set of affairs.
  14. Would be nice if he came back. But he is easily then most underperforming manager in the league at present. Last season isn’t this, and this is as bad football I have seen from a Liverpool side in a very long time.
  15. It was appalling. I don’t know where it ranks in the worst ever, but it’s up there in terms of how bad it was, along with Souness, Evan’s, Hodgson, Rodger’s levels of awfulness. It was truly terrible
  16. That team was capable of easily beating wolves. It featured 11 internationals, 7 league premier league champions, 2 German league champions, and 2 players we paid over £200m for in the summer. I’m not having that’s a weak team that would struggle against a team that has drawn 2, lost 16, and won 0 this season. Results might be, we’re not playing any better. Today was up there with the worse performances this season (and beyond)
  17. I do think there’s a lack of confidence, but you’re right it’s a consequence of s*** design.
  18. I would go as far as to say every other manager in the league would get more out of this team
