  2. Did anyone catch the thing on Five Live yesterday evening about 7.15pm? Some Spanish journalist, who is apparently close to Rafa was saying that Madrid had already approached him and he had knocked them back because he is concerned about the lack of autonomy/empowerment that he will have. He also said that Rafa has told Madrid that he may consider going to them if things start going badly for Liverpool, but not yet, as he he wishes to continue his long term project and its going well at the moment. In other words, he is shutting the door but not forever - which i think is understandable considering he's a Madrid lad. He reckons Rafa will give the board one more chance, i.e. this summer, to deliver the cash. So at this point I'm pretty relieved and then he says that the only possible offer that may tempt him, in the relatively short term, is the one from Inter! Apparently they've also approached him and they have offered him full control, big money and a massive transfer kitty. He has said no to them as well but if the Board do not back him properly this summer then he may make a move! Anyway, I'm not sure how reliable this journo is, if Rafa has used him to up the pressure on the board or if all of this is true, but its interesting!
  3. Sissoko? Who cares? Another s**** Benitez signing! Seriously, great news - made up for the lad.
  4. No. In the last 24 hours, all the t***s have appeared and started to question him and his tactics - "Why play Morientes?", "He should have played Hamann", "Crouch has been a failure", etc. FFS - the man has brought this team a long f***ing way in the last one and half years. Give him some f***ing credit and get off his back! Everytime we hear about the man, from somebody who claims to know him, we're told that he's meticulous and plans every match to the very last detail. He could probably tell you how many inches more Morientes has run during the season compared to Cisse or that we score more goals with Crouch on the pitch. I repeat 'Trust in Rafa' - it hasn't failed us in all of the time he has been here. Now get behind him and the f***ing team (regardless of who is playing!) That is all
  5. Yeah, they should defo have it on. I watched the first leg in Pickwicks in Geneva but a word of warning - they had Arsenal on the big screens and we were tucked away in the corner with Bayern and Lyon! Make sure you get there early and get a good seat.

  8. 22 attempts at goal yday suggests that we're creating enough chances - just not converting them

  10. He's a c**k by all accounts. In Thommo's autobiog he says there was a match when Ince had been dropped to the bench as a sub and Wright was on the opposing bench. Apparently, Wright was throwing stuff at Thommo and giving him the w***** sign the whole game and laughing along with Ince (behing PT's back) because he is a good mate of Ince and because GH and PT were cracking down on Ince and his clique at the time. Obviously he thought it was a laugh and I blame Ince more but it does show a lack of professionalism and maturity - a bit like his punditry. I'm not sure I've heard him add any value when acting a pundit and watching him and Hansen act like a pair of giggling schoolgirls is annoying in the least.
  11. I'm a big big fan of Henry but Ronaldinho is the undisputed king IMHO. Contrary to what Andy Gray thinks, Ronnigol was magnificent tonight.

  13. Yeah but that mistake was criminal. Van Nistelhorse (I think it was him) was a at least 2 yards offside and the linesman was parallel. I don't think many managers would have controlled themselves in that situation - Rafa and Pearce included

  15. I know that he tried to chat up Bev Turner one night about 5 years ago as she was going out with my mate at the time. Dumb bitch didn't know who he was and asked him if he knew of a footballer called Sam Campbell the next day! She thought it was just a dodgy chat up line
  16. Off topic, I know, but I don't think Beckham is capable of taking the ball past a player. Great right foot mind.
  17. I think the fact that Pearce was loyal to Forest and gave them his best years may count in his favour, unlike Barton who is a s***house!

    Defoe

I don't think Defoe is that overrated. Granted he's not World Class (yet!) or even a proven goalscorer but I do think that he has a good all round game and better at taking the ball past players than a certain Mr Owen. He has all the ingredients to develop and do well (starting with afirst touch, unlike Djibs).
  19. Completely agree! Weasly f*** has been unsettling players ever since he got that job and has always been looking for an exit. I must admit to having read the 10-odd pages of the 'story' and it did seem like him angling for a move. The impression I got is that he would leave tomorrow if the World Cup was not in six months time. I can't believe that the FA 'rewarded' him for negotiating with Abrahmovitch by extending his contract for another 4 years!
