Rafa's whining about post-international fixtures became a self-fulfilling prophecy? From what I saw of the game it wasn't just the lack of Torres involved (even though I agree he should have started) many of our players were off today. I read some criticism about Kuyt and Crouch but the most anonymous player on the pitch today imo was Voronin.

To be honest that's what a good winger is supposed to do. Too many of the wide midfielders we've had in recent years have failed to get the ball in the box. Pennant does that better than most. I'd dare to say he'd walk into any starting XI in the premiership outside the top 4. Whether that's good enough is debatable. Of the wide men in our current squad I only rate Babel higher. He does need to curb his temper though. A lot of unnecessary yellows this season already.

Bah, it only Birmingham. Let his play in flip-flips and we'll be fine Not sure about punishing Pennant after the red card. If Rafa trusts his abilities then he should play but cautioned never to pull that s*** off again. He will have to be rested for the Marseille so I think we should use him until then and have other players like Yossi and Ryan rested in these games prior to CL.

Curious how he would perform with a club on a smaller budget. Even though he had a very talented squad at Porto one must admit that winning the CL with a Porugeese outfit these days is quite an achievement. But would he make something out of say Newcastle's squad with a few additions?

How difficult can it be scanning fan-cards at away games? Perhaps the home club will be kind enough to do it for us at the entrance or our traveling stewards could help?
