I would guess the club, trying to be nice to the player, gives him the opportunity to see a specialist (if they know it's a good one) close to home. Those kind of specialists are often more competent to assess a player's injury than the club doctor. Zlatan Ibrahimovic for instance is currently also back in his (and my ) hometown for the moment being treated for some sort of knee injury.

To be honest, nothing bad said from Mourinho there. If I were in his shoes for that goal in 2005 I might just be a little bit bitter myself. He is right about the analysis of the result and I could almost sense a bit of admiration toward the Liverpool support. He was way more dislikeable when he was managing Chelsea.

A little surprised that so many have put Reina in there. Now don't get me wrong, I think he's ace, but could someone who is old enough to have seen Clemence play (as I'm not) explain why you would chose one over the other?

I couldn't possibly defend the poor sod for that og. However others have scored embarrassing own goals before him and I believe others will do it in the future. It's not like JAR is particularly own goal-prone. I was speaking in much more general sense. Not Riise's biggest fan at the moment but that has more to do with his overall abilities, poor form and low confidence which seems to stop him from contributing to our attacking play at the moment (I still think he's pretty solid defensively). In fact I wouldn't mind us getting a better LB in the summer to replace him. However, even at the highest level, there are many one-footed players out there. His right foot does not particularly stand out to me in that sense.

I don't get all the slating of JAR's right foot. He has been in poor form for a while but to bring his weaker foot into it just doesn't make sense to me. His right foot is not worse than many of our right footed player's left foot. Some people are desperate to find faults on him.
