Betting Portmouth to be relegated this season isn't the boldest bet around is it? Looking at their team now, doesn't impress me at all. Even at a team like Hull City I think there are at least some individual players that are somewhat quality. Not so much at Portsmouth.

Don't think Mike suggested we go back to a 442 formation, but simply swap players around in the current formation. Agree that one game might be too soon to panic. However the attacking ineptness of the Lucas/Mascherano CM combo is quite predictable and yesterday the prediction came true. Benayoun has been, if not our best performer since new year's, then at least up there with Gerrard and Torres. How he is not automatically in the started XI is beyond me. In fact sometimes he may be better in Gerrard's role that Gerrard himself when it comes to unlocking low and tight defences with his 'trickery'. After all it is his regular position for Israel isn't it? So it's not like he is a stranger to the position either.

Two pre-season goals isn't exactly what you should use to judge a player. If he had set world alight in the championship the previous season then maybe he would be a talent we could use. But from what I know he is only a decent player in that league. The lad is 21 now, wouldn't we have seen more of him by now to suggest we should keep him? I don't think we have ever had regret selling one of our academy players to other clubs before, very much doubt Hammill will be the first.
