Salah went well. And Mane. Robertson, Matip, Wijnaldum, Ox. Think we’re one of the better teams out there really at getting our targets these days. A problem we might have is as we saw with VVD, Klopp didn’t want anyone else - if all his eggs were in the Fekir basket, we’ll likely see nothing happening for a while; having a top player failing a medical is pretty unexpected.

Disappointing this but think the club at least is doing the right thing. Looked a great fit but hopefully Klopp has some other candidates in mind now to move on to. We have two great players coming in already, can’t be beating ourselves up when the occasional one doesn’t work out.

Pretty sure if he did pass he'd have joined. Given the outcome of the medical is obviously confidential, it's inevitable everyone can only speculate but it's the club's choice, which is the main thing - they spent a lot of time setting this up so aren't going to walk away for a nothing reason.

Anyhow, I’ve a lot of sympathy for Karius, though on the night I wanted him gone before the 90 mins was even up. But he shouldn’t have stayed on the pitch with concussion, and that’s not the player’s fault, it’s not a decision for him to make. Separately, if none of that had happened, I think we’d still be considering an upgrade so basically we should really be able to have the two conversations, concussion f***s you up and maybe we can do better.

Lovren has also at times been abysmal, a farce. To be good enough to play for us I think demands a level of consistency in those key positions.

So next year, when we're in the final, and Ramos elbows Oblak, who's now playing for us, and Oblak then embarrassingly lets a ball roll under his legs into the goal, because, for some reason he's finding it difficult to concentrate, and everything feels strangely in 2D, then best just draw a line under that and move on. Til next year anyhow... Very much agree with Phil earlier, whatever about Karius as our goalkeeper, the whole event has put the spotlight on something that just shouldn't be let go so easily. It has significance in itself.
