  1. Keegan moved from an offside position to knock the ball back to him. Even though he didn't actually touch it - it came off the Newcastle player - he was interfering with play etc. by 1974 interpretations. Can't link the you tube video, but we were imperious that day, including a cracker from your other mention, Stevie Heighway He was a winner of the prize money sprint - Powder Hall or something - in the NE when younger. Genuinely fast.
  2. Alec Lindsey was great, a left foot to die for - like a can-opener according to Paisley - but his fantastic goal in the 74 cup final was, having seen it back, correctly disallowed. And yes, I was therre. The club legend that was Ronnie Moran was a Left Back too. Agree that Robbo is the best I've seen though. Harsh
  3. As well as playing for Juventus and Bayern
  4. Against Newcastle....
  5. No it f***ing doesn't , c***
  6. To paraphrase Gore Vidal* - It is not enough to be right. Others must be wrong. * highly disputed, but he was cool, so there you go. And yes, this aspect of the topic is turning quite unpleasant and toxic, making this thread one to avoid or enter only with etreme caution. We're not Twitter, ffs. **has since gone all touchy-feely and soft, so I'm back in . b*****ds
  7. What if the Pope dies though? Would that be enough vibes?
  8. 42 years ago to the day The pitch was virtually unplayable, frozen solid. And Rush scores a Hat Trick of rare genius. The second at 4:30 or so is an all-time favourite, the first is a poacher's classic, the last just brilliant. I must watch this video about 3 or4 times a year.
  9. I'm fully on board with us beating City, and also going a long way in the CL - and winning it* Contrary to received wisdom, I don't believe it's the hope that kills you; it's the lack of hope. Come ON!!! * It worked in the second half of the 2004-05 season
  10. Could he have done better for the goal? One of those awkward ones where its close to his feet so hard to get down to with his hands, and very well hit; would have been a really good save but not an unbelievable one.
  11. I thought it was an FA Cup game at Preston, and Alonso had to intervene and got injured? May have been Keane's last game for us.
  12. Thought Slot's response re Martinelli was quite classy, allowed him just a little dig about Liverpool not doing this kind of timewasting (unlike....)
  13. Apparently Jones has a slight knock/strain, probably shouldn't even be on the bench ideally.
  14. This was his finest tactical and strategic work since he has been at the club. Result (for once)!
  15. And even he admitted that was one of the most blatant acts of highway robbery imaginable. We absolutely battered them for a miserly 1-0 lead then conceded 2 from not much in the last 5-10 minutes
  16. Iirc, for a long time, every PL manager's first title win had been in their first full season - since Ferguson or something - until Pep (2nd Season) and then Jurgen (4th full season) - so Arne last year was a reversion to the norm
  17. Macca this season vs last season is almost Slot/LFC in microcosm. World class midfielder last year, shoe in for the PL Team of the Year, driving force and engine room and important goal-scoring talisman for the run-away Champions - even in (and possibly especially in) the post PSG/League Cup period. From Day 1 this season he has looked off it (injured and not fully fit yet, we nodded) and now barely resembles a professional footballer at times. To an extent that can't, imo, be put down to coaching, or the system, or being asked to play in not his best position (which Klopp also asked of him, and he performed manfully if not optimnally). I've no idea what it is down to, but it is as bad an off-a-cliff drop in form I have sean since - well, only back to Fabinho, probably, but I think it unlikely that Macca's legs have gone in the same way that Fabinho's seemed to. As such I would be reluctant to sell him,as I am confident that the Macca of last year could make a comeback, but don't know what it is going to take
  18. My reluctance to get on board with binning Slot off this soon after a League title is mitigated by the belief that I can't really see anyone available that would with any certainty remedy our ills, as the cause(s) of such a dramatic fall off in so many areas are potentially complex and deep-seated (and may well be, I have to accept, beyond Slot's capability to solve - which doesn't make him a fraud or a spoofer). Not sure Tuchel is an answer I could get excited about, Klopp isn't coming back - but if Ancelotti or Enrique were in the frame, I would, a little reluctantly, back a change right now.
  19. Always disliked him, but enjoying the way he is both charming and boiling the piss of the England commentators, and appears to be both flexible and committed in his tactical thinking
  20. This content is not viewable to guests.
  21. I was referencing last season.
  22. And Forest at home aside, used his subs really well on most occasions.
  23. f***, carried that scenario for over 35 years. Should have gone to LFC history. Still wish him and his family eternal pain.
  24. Hope so. His dad cost us the title in 89*, have wished misfortune on him and his family ever since. A dish best served very cold. * Late goal (from a corner, ironically) for West Ham in the penultimate game turned a brilliant 4-0 rout into a comfortable 4-1 but meant Arsenal won on GD on the Friday.
  25. Lee Chapman suddenly becoming unplayable, iirc. We also went 2 up (gulp) and 3-1 up in 2000 and lost 4-3. f*** You Viduka. (The 4th was about 2 yards offside, but the delirious commentator said - out loud - that it didn't matter because it was such a wonderful narrative. f*** You as well)
