He's definitely going to have to get used to the 'speedy' tag - he's lightning fast. As for the comaprison with Ronaldo, he seems much more direct - not poncing round showing off his tricks. Can't wait to see him playing for us.
-
I agree, a curious article - and what's this all about? HIS former team-mates at Real Madrid keep telling him how much they envy him

Absolutely ridiculous - no Theo Walcott! Can't believe he's left out the guy who's going to win the World Cup for us. Should be ashamed of himself.

Yeah, God knows what Rafa see in him - obviously knows nothing about the game. The detractors need to look at Crouch from a different angle - defenders hate playing against him, and if he got the number of free-kicks he deserves, he would be an even more potent option. Of course he should score more goals and his attacking heading is poor, but his overall contribution is impressive - we would not have the number of clean sheets this season, for instance, without his holdup play taking the pressure off the defence (not to mention his clearing headers from set plays). To call him just OK is doing him and Rafa a great disservice.

Well, I've been watching Liverpool since 1958 and I have not seen a worse player wearing a red shirt than Traore; as O'Leary said afterwards, he's never had a team create so many chances at Anfield before - and the reason for that is that we played without a left-back today and the Villa right wing had a field day. Traore is not a scapegoat - he is genuinely completely useless!

phil scolari the next england manager

He's made the right decision; our tabloid press are scum and at his age I can fully understand him not wanting the hassle and pressure they would give him. Got to be McClaren now - especially after last night's result. -
Can't believe the lack of sympathy from some posters here. Do they really think that that incident merited a three match ban for both players???? It's a ridiculous punishment for such a minor incident. It's quite possible neither will get the chance the play in an FA cup final again; something that is a highlight of most players careers. It's a typically heartless decision by a set of jobsworths no better than a bunch of jumped-up parking attendants.

Who reckons Fowler's gonna hit 200 Liverpool goals
spencer replied to kenny7's topic in Liverpool FC
Can't imagine him not getting a new contract - he cost us nothing and his wages are not going to be high; plus his attitude is exactly what Rafa wants to see and the boss knows it would keep the fans happy. As for the goals - why not; next year we will have better wingplay than this season and I can see us scoring hatfuls and Robbie still looks sharp in front of goal. And let's face it, since Robbie returned, how many easy chances has he missed (hardly any); how many easy chances have the rest of the forwards missed in that same time (lost count!). -
Quite possibly Sissoko's injury cost us our CL place and a run at 2nd; don't think any fans would now underestimate his importance to the team. Rafa can certainly pick 'em!

Ironically for Everton, Gerrard's sending off meant Xabi took the corners and they were just unplayable. Hope to God he continues to take them and Stevie can cause havoc on the edge of the area instead.

Terry Mac's #7 for me. To beat a team of Spurs quality 7-0 and to round it off with one of the best goals I've ever seen - still my favourite. Steve Heighway is for me the most underrated of former Liverpool players and I wish to God we had someone of his consistent quality on the wing these days - we'd murder teams.
-
Had to laugh when he said the first he knew of the transfer was when he started hearing the same rumours as us!
-
Don't agree with the criticsm of Crouch - it was his enforced departure that swung the game; we were dominating the second half in part because of his hold-up play; as soon as he went off, we couldn't retain possession in their half and united actually got into the game. Still, I'd rather have our problems than United's.

Funnily enough it did get a lot of mentions recently. Sky were testing a new sports channel, and that game was one of the handful of programmes transmitted - it was repeated lots of times, and I enjoyed watching it lots of times! Still the old 80s team then but it wouldn't be long before the Souness tsunami swept it all away. (September 1990. Beardsley hat-trick and Barnes the other).

Saw this mentioned on RAWK and there's a translation of some snippets but I'd be interested in a fuller translation if anyone could give it. Worth watching even though I didn't understand much of it! http://www.cuatro.com/multimedia/video.htm...ctoultnot_3.Ves

These threads work both ways ? if you read the first half of the Liverpool threads you get a mirror image of Bluekipper and the like: From TalkLFC: ?3-1 luton, i'm off to work, (censored) disgraceful, you bunch of... Liverpool supporters have traveled 5-6 hours to get to luton, and this is how you repay us....(censored) DISGRACE? Then FSP comes on: ?My God Pongolle is so s**** - can we just never sign French players ever again? I think I'm traumatised for life.? FSP scores his first goal: ?He is s**** - scoring that goal doesn't make him less s****? FSP scores again: ?He is s**** - I stand by that. However, I must admit this is the first time I have seen him play like the striker we were promised he would be. Now, this is knackered Championship opposition but both finishes were well taken none the less.? From YNWA: At 1-3: someone says ?we will be lucky to get the replay at this rate? Which elicits the response: ?hahahahaha 3 goals in 30 minutes. This isn't Istanbul, you know? From RAWK: At 1-3 again: ?Had enough of watching this s***. I'm off for a shower 'Shower' being the operative word for this? And lots more this kind! To be fair many fans did stay positive at 3-1 down though.

Pretty much my take on things; I'm actually quite pleased they are splashing their currently limited resources in areas that are not crucial. Evra repacing Heinze for the rest of the season will not make any difference to their season - they still won't win the league or the CL (obviously) and only one of them can play LB next season. If they intend moving Heinze to CB, why buy Vidic? Their midfield is a complete disaster; Giggs and Scholes past it, Ronaldo over-rated, and the rest second-rate. If they'd got Ballack or someone of that quality, I would have been worried but anyone who watched the Arsenal-ManU game could see that the midfields on both sides were quality-free zones and buying more defenders won't make up for the deficiencies there.

They gave us a torrid time in the air and I was grateful Ferguson wasn't on the bench (for some mysterious reason). It's one thing for Moyes to go, but another matter altogether to find a better replacement.

He's shortlisted for the UEFA team of the year: http://www.uefa.com/newsfiles/380316.pdf Right backs Cafu (AC Milan) Willy Sagnol (FC Bayern München) Michel Salgado (Real Madrid CF) Juliano Belletti (FC Barcelona) Jan Kromkamp (AZ Alkmaar/Villarreal CF)

Just 'cos he plays for our new owners(allegedly)! Peyton Manning is a one-off ; great fun to watch. Hope he meets his brother in the SuperBowl.

Hey, I'm almost as excited by the Colts as I am by Liverpool at the moment! Greatness in any sport interests me and the Colts QB is something special and well worth watching. Interesting that Xabi is often described as a quarterback type of midfielder. I agree though that if I were making a programme about the NFL, I'd do my research first; the YNWA error is inexcusable frankly.
