  1. Thing with Chelsea is that they are almost immune to all of this anyway. They've such a big squad of expensive talent they'd get past most situations comfortably (though losing Terry and Lampard in one go would hurt).
  2. This risks being moved to the general football forum, so I'll try and make it LFC related where possible. I, like most, think the transfer window stinks for many reasons (teams holding out for the highest bidder knowing they have a deadline approaching / teams & agents notifying the world of an approach by a team just to see if anyone else is interested first - both of these scenarios happened less in the previous model), but there is one reason in particular that has just come to mind that makes a mockery of the whole thing even more so in my mind. The fate of each team is now decided far earlier in the season, as nobody can make the correct tactical purchases/sales at the right time to suit their needs. For example. Liverpool have known that they have needed a decent right midfielder and a central defender for approx 18 months now, maybe more, but have only recently solved one problem. It's also the case that due to circumstances Rafa's has recently decided we need a goal scorer, but due to timing could only succeed in signing an almost temporary fix for almost no money. As a result, the chances of LFC pushing Chelsea hard for the title were almost over the minute the transfer window closed. That's it, no more signings until the Summer. This affects others too. Manure might think they need 2/3 players, but they now have no chance until the Summer. Newcastle have been crippled with injuries and have had no chance to do anything about it. As a result, any ambitions of playing in Europe are pretty much over already, and were probably over before Christmas when they needed to buy. What about those teams facing relegation? If they fail to sign what they need in a very cramped transfer window then their fate is also pretty much decided by the end of January too. I realise Chelsea are running away with the title this year and we were never likely to win the thing this year ourselves, but what if Chelsea had slipped a bit, and either LFC or Manure thought to themselves, 'you know what, let's get those players we need now and really go for it'? Fact is they can't. We've reached a situation where the season is pretty much over in terms of who wins and who goes down, who makes Europe and who doesn't too early in many cases. Just a thought like. Interested to know the view of others.
  3. I think he needs regular games. Defending is so hard when you're not playing with the same people regularly. I hate this stepping up for off-side all the time. The line only needs breaking once in 90 minutes and bang. I know why we play it, just don't like it. The sooner Agger is fit and ready the better.

  5. They can't play together, and no we don't
  6. We've got the Chelsea game next though. No choice but to rotate a bit, do you not think?
  7. The things that stood out for me were the 'Passion of Xabi' following the own goal, and Kewell's display. He's really finding his sharpness again. Also, with Kewell, he is so good at protecting the ball and finding a pass (more often than not). His touch is brilliant. Frustrating not to win, but as ever, it's not like we didn't create enough chances.
  8. Rob Jones. Thought he was outstanding. Felt so sorry for him

I'd take him in a flash. To suggest he doesn't have a goal scoring record is nonsense to the extreme. Absolute tosh. Far more likely to succeed at LFC than Cisse. Would also play more games than the injury prone Owen. Quick, great touch, and great shot. Maybe he's greedy at times, but hey, he's a striker FFS.
  13. I think the best thing to do would be to actually sing Happy Birthday (proper version) to him. It would confuse the hell out of the Mancs, Fergie and Sky for that matter
  14. I agree. It's particularly true of both Carra and Hyypia and for very good reason. It's not just the number of games either. Their standard has been so high for so long. I personally suspect that if Agger is to start soon it will be for Hyypia. Of the two I think Carra is the one who'd be able to carry on a bit longer before having a rest. We'll see You suggest a reason for something and it gets shot down in flames, not as an opinion but as fact. It's frustrating at times. Thought my reason was valid, but obviously not. So be it.
  15. No apparently that's not it. We're not allowed to know why though... Some people really are up their own arses in this place. Fecking know alls.
  16. You knew he was on an individual training regime?
  17. I think he has to cover too much for Hyypia, that's why he looks tired - the work of 1 1/2 Replace Hyypia soon and Carra will be fine IMO.
  18. Class
  19. I could well believe that.
  20. Yes?
  21. I'd go along with that. He would have put away the early chance with his left, the sitter with his right and the header with the front of his head, not the back, fat or not, fit or not.

    Free Fowler

Pick me up, I'll come too.

    Free Fowler

If Fowler signed I'd put money on him scoring more goals than Nando for the rest of the season.
  24. Or, as much as it pains me, Rooney and RvN are quite good.
