Exactly, there'll be loads who only booked flights in the last week or so. This is a nonsense, and i shouldnt imagine the airlines will be giving a f*** about it either. Even worse, we have to wait til midday friday before we even know the final outcome, so it'll be a mad scramble 5 days before the game, to see if flights can be amended and such like. Certainly not. His signing just complicates things with Torres, Gerrard and the whole 4231 formation.

If Keane plays in the 'hole' then that moves Gerrard wide, which i'd rather not see happen myself. I'd have been more inclined to spend the Keane money on a wide player who can play as a 2nd forward, rather than a striker who we may end up playing wide.

Maybe it will do, but in all honesty, in terms of what Torres and Gerrard produced last season, how much better can it really get? Nearly 60 goals between them in all competitions...you cant ask for much more IMO.

I have no problem with them interchanging and there will indeed be times where you'd swap them round and move things about a bit. My main hope would be that Gerrard remains central and behind Torres, where the others play certainly doesnt need to be set in stone and the flexibility of it can be an asset too.

Obviously i hope it doesnt pan out that way and that Keane proves to be quality whether he plays in the hole, up front, or in the wide forward 'kuyt' role, but i'm just of the opinion that players usually perform at less than their best when used in an 'unnatural' position. Hardly radical thinking.

If we play 4231 regularly, the best scenario is that Keane plays in Kuyt's role and excels there, because i really dont like the idea of breaking up the Torres/Gerrard link that was so lethal last season.

You cant spend £20m on the notion that Torres MIGHT get injured. If he doesnt (and we obviously hope he wont), Keane will be played out of position most of the season and his effectiveness will be minimised.

I think i enjoy it more when he's up front on his own too. I hope Keane proves me wrong, but it seems like we've thrown £20m at a signing we really didnt need.

After scoring the goal, Torres was a man possessed. Full of motivation, drive and hunger. Chased everything. Amazing what difference a goal makes.
