12 June 2007 We received a petition asking: "We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to authorise a new public inquiry into the Hillsborough disaster." Details of petition: "On Saturday 15th April 1989, 96 Liverpool fans were tragically killed on the Leppings Lane terrace at Hillsborough stadium. The verdict from the inquest that followed declared that no one was accountable for the disaster. Thousands of campaigners the world over, as well as the victims families will not rest until the real culprits are revealed in a fresh public inquiry into the disaster and taken to task." Read the petition Petitions home page Read the Government's responseThe Government sympathises with the families and friends of those who died at Hillsborough and the grief that they have suffered. In 1997/98 then Home Secretary, Jack Straw, asked Lord Justice Stuart-Smith to consider whether there was any new evidence then available which would justify a fresh inquiry into the 1989 disaster. Lord Justice Stuart-Smith considered, in great detail, all the evidence which was put to him. This included all the relevant evidence presented to the earlier inquiries and inquests. He looked equally rigorously at all the information presented to him by individuals and official bodies, including those representing the families of those who died, and others who had acted in support of them. However, he concluded that there was no basis for re-considering previous criminal, disciplinary, public inquiry or inquest decisions. Accordingly, the Government's position remains as set out in the statement made in Parliament by Jack Straw on 18 February 1998, which can be found on the website (new window).

Sky are saying that reports out of Spain saying that Henry is a done deal, but his agent says this is complete lies, and is seeking legal advise, What does this mean

This media stuff is just Bo**ocks, I think Rafa has his targets tied up, or promises. Why on earth would Gerrard, Carra, Alonso, Pepe, and the rest renew there contracts if they were not promised some star players, also I think Rafa had some deals done, as he would not of had an early holiday. Well thats the way I see it

Well he said we`d have a top signing before the end of week

Love Anelka back before any other signing, would IMO be better than Eto due to the fact he`s used to the Prem & Eto might be like the rest who could`nt make it here, would still love him here but, £30-£40 million

TRIBUTE TO THE LIVERPOOL FANS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As some of you may know I'm living in Spain now and here I was tonight sat down on my couch with a few friends and a few (quite a few) beers in anticipation of a real english competitive fast game. I wasn't dissapointed at all. I thoughraly enjoyed the battle and was glad that Liverpool went through. Not only because of my imense dislike for José Mourinho, but because I don't like hoofy football either. Liverpool were by far the better side tonight and deserved to go through. This post is dedicated to some of the most incredible scenes by football fans I've ever seen in my life. Watching it here on Antena 3 with co comentators Cesc Fabregas of Arsenal and the great Michael Laudrup aswell. They all had a lump in their throat when 10 minutes before the game the Liverpool fans broke out into song with their famous "You'll Never Walk Alone" chant. I've never seen the Liverpool fans do it with such passion. I tell a lie coz after the Hillsbrough disaster there was another rendition with the same feeling again. But this was something special for me even being an Arsenal fan it afected me tremendously. The reason was that I was with spanish friends watching it and they couldn't believe it. They couldn't belive how beautiful the scenes were with the fans singing in unison and all holding their red scarves high above their heads. One of them almost cried. Forget the amazing Barça mosaics that are incredible and the Atletico Madrid charge after a goal is scored. The Boca Juniors scenes before a game at La Bombonera with the ribbons and confetti. This was pure passion coming from a set of fans that adore their club and who feel the tradition and history that comes with supporting Liverpool Football Club. I felt proud to have been born in England tonight. I was a Liverpool fan just for tonight and I felt the Anfield spirit run thorugh my veins. A magnificent advert not just for Liverpool FC, but more importantly for ENGLISH FOOTBALL! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT FANS IN EUROPE LOVE ABOUT THE ENGLISH GAME ALL OF THE OTHER INFAMOUS STUFF SHOULD BE BURRIED.
