he cuts back when there is no option and I haven't seen him play left back ever, I thought he had played right mid for the RoI but not LB. There is no point in weakening one of our strongest positions to stregnthen very slightly one that I don't think is particularly weak. Rob Jones was never a left back and nor should Finnan ever be

I was not one of those saying that Gerrard should never play RM. Carragher was a good left back for all the reasons that Finnan should never be considered for that position. Carragher was there to defend, he done so excellently that he is right footed actually helped as he forced players to go outside of him where we had same to pick up the pieces from crosses. Finnan is a completely different type of player he offers us an attacking option he can cross the ball and is not afraid of getting a head of the ball when the time is right. It makes no sense that we actually have an attacking threat in the air and then play one of our best crossers of the ball on the wrong side where he will have to turn on to his stronger foot and deliver the ball from the wrong side and at the wrong angle. Riise is a better left back than Finnan would be it's daft

Rob Jones was about the best RB in the league and it was momentously stupid idea to move him to LB to accomodate McAteer
