It would have been interesting to see the squad Rafa would have built compared to what we do have, given the money we had to spend last summer. I don't think there would have been a Downing, Adam, Carroll or Henderson in sight, I'd imagine a Martinez, Soldado, Enrique, Mata etc, all very Spanish and all very good.

That is the main reason Lucas is there so I'd think we would be pretty well covered and I'm sure Shelvey would help out more so than Adam. We worry too much about protection when we dont score enough goals. The main 'Carroll Dilema' is that when he doesn't player then Suarez becomes the lone forward and get isolated. You think we would learrn.

My main gripe with Kenny is his insistance on playing Henderson on the right. It's a shocking decision everytime it is made and really hampers our attacking play - oh for a class winger, not had one since Macca and them b******s down the M62 have won the league countless times lately by having the best wide players in the league and still have now. That added to Suarez up there on his own isolated, what is the point in that? Carroll, for all his sins, takes defenders away from Suarez at the very least, play the the big f*****.

I'd play this team/formation from our current and I dont give a f*** about players being too young etc - they couldnt do any worse: Pepe Johnson/Kelly - Srktel - Agger - Jose Shelvey - Lucas Suarez - Gerrard - Bellamy/Sterling Carroll That team has the most important thing in it that win matches - goals. Suarez to have a freer role than the rest. Johnson and Bellamy to be 1st choice but if they cant play then Kelly and Sterling to come straight in, none of this Downing nonsense as he cant score, same goes for Henderson. If we had a Llorente/Cavani/Falcao /Rossi instead of Carroll all the better, I'd go for one of those four in the summer, any one of them, they are all class at scoring f***ing goals.

If anything I think our transfer policy has been the exact opposite of Moneyball. We have signed players everyone knows about, for massive fees and players who everyone knew were average. Moneyball is about finding the hidden gems, for cheap fees, who nobody else knows isactually very good. We are the best anti-moneyball exponents in the footballing world.
