Is there a rumour about Anelka coming back or is this pure pie in the sky wishful thinking?
-
Babel and Torres as the new Bergkamp and Henry. I hope we get to see both of them up front together (maybe on Saturday).
-
Great to see Aurelio back and hopefully he can have an injury free run. He is such a cultured player that can add a different option to Riise and Arbeloa (poor last two games) at lb, and is also a good option from lm. Amazing he is back before Kewell.
-
Porto were looking for 25 million euros, not pounds. He is a good player with even better potential. His decision making isn't always the best and his set pieces are frustrating, but with a ball at his feet he is exceptional. No point comparing with Babel, they can play in similar positions but are different types of players. Both are skillful but Babel is more about power and Quaresma more about finesse. IMHO Quaresma would be worth signing.

Unfortunately Kewell's story at Liverpool is one bad joke. Hopefully he'll move on in January.

It is probably more likely that Schuster is worried that if things don't go well for him that RM will make another attempt to sign Rafa. Capello was fired because of the style of play, and Schuster probably sees this as being the best way for him to put Rafa down.

Crouch's advisers can sniff a profit and have been working on him since last season. His head is turned. He feels (probably with quite a bit of justification) that he should start more games. I've an admirer of Crouch and his play against Arsenal at home last season was amazing. There have been alot of games like this. Furthermore he is a very likable player and he comes across as a very down to earth person. Our team is evolving and improving, and Rafa has chosen to leave Crouch out of a few match day squads. He is now seemingly fourth choice and more and more unhappy with rotation (just read his quotes). Babel is more of a striker than a winger, but he does give the squad a very valuable option as he can play lm, rm and upfront. He has pace, skill and good technique. He can go missing in games, but it is clear to see the potential of a world beater. LiverpoolFC is a company with a finite income that needs to generate revenue. This season we sold Cisse and Bellamy to help fund our purchase of Torres. Our team has been improved by the addition of Torres. It has been argued by many that we could do with another top class wide man. Kewell's days are surely numbered (disappointingly one must add), which leaves us with just Pennant as an out and out wide man (will either of Hamill/Anderson make it?). Sorry to be so long winded, but let me summarize by saying that IMHO we can sell Crouch and replace him with a top quality attacking midfielder (and by the way today we are linked with Giovani dos Santos: http://talkingsoccer.blogspot.com/2007/09/...erpool-or.html) while ensuing that we have four excellent strikers on our books.

Aurelio was playing some really excellent football in the 2nd half of last season, just before his achilles tear. I agree that he was weak defensively (and in all round play) at the start of the season, but he got better and better as the season wore on. I can certainly see the argument for having Arbeloa and Aurelio as full backs at home against some of the leagues strugglers.

have we left a few players behind this season?
MickeyDocs replied to Stevie H 's topic in Liverpool FC
We need to sign Mascherano up on a long term contract, and sign Carra's long term successor. We will also need a long term solution at left back (assuming AA is earmarked as Finnan's successor). -
It's simple really, sell Crouch for a huge profit on our purchase price, include Babbel as one of our four strikers, and sign another winger that loves to hug the touchline in the JP mould (apologies to fans of Crouch). BTW I really like the way Babbel is direct from the wing as it makes for a great counter balance to Pennant. I hope we get to see a 4-3-3 this season with Torres and Babbel either side of Kuyt/Voronin in an attacking trio.

You probably have a song about Chelsea as well, but the rest is true.

Arsenal have had a very good start to the season... so much for those expecting the spuds to knock them out of the top 4. Anyone reckon that the next game between will be Jol's last game if his team loses?
-
Would have thought we've enough cover for Stevie in Lucas and Momo.
-
Don't think Rafa would sign a player that goes on strike.
-
Were Utd interested in him as an alternative to Nani? Sounds like the kind of player we need long term for the left! Has anyone actually seen him play?
-
In the next few seasons United will have to replace Giggs (Nani) and Scholes (Anderson). These two players have been central to their sustained success and are coming to the end of their careers. I believe last season was a swansong for Scholes. The guy is class and will be very hard to replace. United needed to break the bank for these guys. It'll be interesting to see how Tevez and Rooney link up. Hargreaves is an interesting buy. Would he get in out team?
-
Evra, Cole, Aurelio.
-
Genuine question - Why are English people so anti-Australian?
-
Crouch has more international goals, more international caps, and furthermore was the second highest scorer in last seasons champions league. If we are to consider selling Crouch it will be only to facilitate the signing of a top class replacement, such as Tevez.

NO NO NO NO NO - I HATE these electronic boards!!!!!

Even if we haven't signed him permanently, we have an 18 month loan contract with the player, of which 6 months has elapsed. Right now we need to add to our attacking options. There is alot to be done here, and we also need to improve our defensive options. I have no doubt that Rafa will buy Masch, probably in the winter xfer window. Wasn't Nixon the guy that said United were about to scupper the Torres deal?
-
I just want us to sign this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtPwVXyDvmE...ted&search= oh yeah, we've already got him
-
Give Kuyt a proper chance ffs! The guy hasn't reached the heights for us yet, but he is a good striker and will die for the cause.

David Dein?
