Red Yoda

Might be the facial similarity but he reminds me of a young Costa.

There is no sure fire way of doing things and no way of being sure what will happen once you make those choices, but most times a player puts themselves into this position, they get the move and both clubs move on. I hope we get VvD, but time will tell.

If they refuse to sell and have an unhappy player it will cause problems next season, the flip side is get as much as they can and move on replacing him with another good CB with a better bank balance......there's only one sensible way forward there.

Southampton are trying to get as much money out of this deal as possible, not a surprising move on their part.

It would be astonishing if the deal doesn't now happen

Looking at how VvD has played, he would be an awesome CB to get in, fingers crossed.

Fair do's then

After the Salah reports emerged just after ES's post, it would easily tie in with Salah.

He would give us another attacker with real quality and real pace for the attacking third. Excellent signing if we can get it finalised.

It's going to be VvD

What, what?

The Echo are saying we are prepared to match whatever package City or Chelsea are offering to VvD

Personally yes, but everyone is different. Most of the top clubs in the PL could easily be targeting a top CB, there seems though to only be three of us in for him, why the others would prefer not to go for him, could easily be put down to money. I would love us to go and out bid everyone else, but it ain't happening in this case most likely. If we get VvD I will be delighted but if we don't I genuinely think there are still real quality CB's out there, thing is they don't have the PL experience which does put a little bit more doubt into a move as to whether it will work out.

There are other quality players out there as alternatives to VvD, he has shown his abilities in the PL which is a big extra advantage with him though, whether it makes him worth the figures that are being mentioned, I'm not sure. I think it just shows there a few clubs who are hugely wealthy and they can just say we will add another £5m to the fee and we will better the other wage offers. Hopefully VvD buys into our club and that we get the deal over the line.

Papers generally work on a scatter gun approach, throw enough headlines out there, eventually you get something right and can say... Look we know what we are talking about. The majority of them are inconsistent at best.

It just sounds like Negotiations. I think we improved, with how we did last summer, we wanted Matip & Mane when others wanted them too, but we got those deals over the line, hopefully that continues.

There are lots of good players out there, a blind man on a galloping horse can find them, finding the ones that have slipped through the net to some degree is the real art of a scout, those are the scouts that are worth their weight in gold.

James Walters in the Star are saying we have offered Clichy a two year deal within an option of a further year.

If a good alternative can be found then we should get the deals done. He can be a quality player but his injury record is horrendous.

Karius was bought to "put pressure on Mignolet" but I think basically all of us see him as our no.1, it would be really bonkers to sign another keeper unless there is an option to sell Mignolet before the end of this window.

He is an attacking midfielder, he normally plays centrally, isn't blessed with lots of pace but is very good on the ball, the easy comparison that lots seem to be making is that he is like Modric.

We used to comment about Skrtel being capable of a rash challenge, now that he has gone Moreno seems to have grabbed the "Mr.Rash challenge" title with both hands. JK is the boss and in that we have to trust his judgement, that being said Moreno needs to repay the incredible faith that has been put him.

Sturridge is a excellent forward but again and again he has injury niggles, the fact it is very clear that JK is not going to give him game time unless he is 100% fit, i don't think it will happen in this window but I would be shocked if Sturridge doesn't decide to try to find a new club because he wants more game time.
