  1. Don't get all this "we supported him" business. We backed him because he was one of our best players. No-one stuck up for Diouf when he was acting the c**k.
  2. I'm more worried about replacing Reina than Suarez. In the last twenty years we've almost always had a top-class striker (Fowler, Owen., Torres, then Suarez) but Reina is the first decent keeper we've had since Grobbelaar. United and Arsenal.have both had the same problem. I also think Reina's decline has been overstated. He seemed infallible for a while, so it;s understandable that people think there's a problem when he makes a mistake but he's still very, very good. Cech had a similar drop in form after he banged his head but seems seems to be back to something like his best.
  3. You've made that quite clear.
  4. There's a rush to criticize them. To see the worst. You're not a stooge for thinking it can be a bit over the top and wanting to counter-balance it.
  5. Don't be harsh on yourself.
  6. Definitely.
  7. Don't doubt it's a good offer. You'd take it to the wire though: a CPO would take ages.
  8. Ian needs to grow a 'tache. I can guarantee he's already considering it. The mid-life-crisis t**.
  9. Do you think a PR campaign would play? It's risky - though I'm not sure the club give much of a s*** about the opinion of locals - it could come across as LFC forcing people out of their family homes.
  10. I assume if you own one of the last few houses holding up a major redevelopment, you have a strong hand in negotiations. And I can't imagine too many of the hold-outs are willing to take what the club considers a fair offer, considering the decline of the area over the years, which was largely caused by LFC.
  11. There's no doubt Ayre is a bit of a div, but he's constantly criticised for pretty benign stuff. There's some important questions to ask about his performance but it gets lost in an avalanche of cry-arsing about the away kit looking a bit ropey.
  12. He'd look boss on Match of the Day. Then we could all blame Ayres for not signing him when we had the chance.
  13. They do have the ball. And occasionally score. Valdes isn't judged on what he does when Barca are knocking it about in midfield for hours on end.
  14. Not sure I understand you're point. Seeing as I didn't make any effort to expand on my own, I'll do it now. If you play for someone s**** - like Stoke, or Newcastle - as a goalkeeper you'll see a lot more of the ball. More chance to make saves that look good on telly - though that's not your aim - and more chance that when you have to make a save, you're not doing it cold. Keeper's normally get raved about because they a make a series of spectacular saves for some mediocre team against a big club - that isn't the life of a Liverpool GK. Begovic might be a great replacement for Reina, but to judge him you need to see him every week. One thing to consider though: everyone's rightly concerned about losing Suarez, but over that last 20 years we've had more seasons with a s*** goalie than with a s*** main striker. The same goes for United and - especially - Arsenal.
  15. It's considerably harder.
  16. Don't see a great deal wrong with what he's said there.
  17. It's a strange one. If it exists, it's obviously not in our interest to advertise it, but if Suarez's agent wants Real to know they can buy him for £40m and not a penny more, all he has to do is tell them. Doing it through the papers seems completely unnecessary. I can only think that the clause doesn't exist, but we want to anchor the £40m figure in fans' minds, so when he does go for £45-50m, we're all thinking what a great job Ayres/FSG have done, rather than "we've just finished 7th in the league and our best player's f***ed off to Madrid because we can't give him European football".
  18. Interesting. Presumably they're normally included when one of the parties could benefit in someway from having the information? Maybe it's chucked in as a negotiation tactic: "We can't give give you 100k a week, but we'll offer you 99k; free parking at Melwood; all the chicken, beans and pasta you can eat; and we'll let you know if anyone bids £40m for you." Can't see the motivation for us to lie though - it's futile. If Real think there is a proper release cause - and if we've heard about, they will too - they can just bid £40m and see what happens.
  19. I'm sceptical. Why would Suárez's agent negotiate such a useless clause? "We're not going to sell you, but if you like, you can negotiate the salary you'd have got if we did."
  20. It was a mistake, but it's hardly evidence that FSG will pocket the money if we sell Suarez.

  22. In Rafa's first season Neil Mellor got quite a few games under similar circumstances.
  23. Young is 10th. Downing is 19th. Not that it matters. Assists are a pointless way of measuring a player's contribution.
  24. 1. Cole 2. Gerrard 3. Johnson
  25. Where does the idea that we'd have to pay him two year's wages up front come from? Do you have a link?
