I actually think there's merit to the idea, though if Suarez has made his mind up, there's not much anyone can say to convince him to stay. It'll work itself out in the end. If he goes, we'll sign someone boss who no ones ever heard of.

TBF it was a just a s*** joke about the absurdity of asking Gerrard to try to convince Suarez to stay, when he's a) considered leaving before and b) not really got many medals to show for staying. I'm still glad he did and I'd do the same if I was in his situation. f*** knows why I doubled-down on it though.

He's won next to nothing since his last flirtation with Chelsea. There's plenty of reasons for Suarez to stay - us being a better prospect for trophies than Arsenal isn't one of them. They're in the Champions League and have money to burn. We're not and we don't. I wish thing's were different, but they're not.

Most players aren't Gerrard or Suarez. Since 2005, when he considered leaving, he's won an FA cup and a league cup. It's f*** all for a player of his quality. That's the club's fault not his, but it's not something you want to remind Luis of.

Come on now. Gerrard's not got the medals a player of his quality deserves. Sticking him in front of Suarez when you're trying to convince him the future's bright might end up being a bit counter productive.

Not sure the Premier League have the authority to settle contract disputes. Surely it would have to go to court. Someone on another forum had the theory that we'd hoodwinked Suarez's agent with this clause. Reckons Guardiola wanted a £40m buyout clause and our legal team wrote it in a way that sounds like it is, but actually just allows Suarez to hold contract talks without compelling us to sell. Sounds a bit far-fetched but it would explain why we've agreed to - in our eyes- such a pointless clause.

Initial investment in NESV/FSG. This isn't the first time they've branched out though. Be surprised if Henry and Werner have enough of a shareholding to railroad the other partners as well.
