That pic could be from November (?) when LDV was visiting Liverpool and signing for LFC. It was then reported in the Finnish papers that former Liverpool legend Kevin Keegan had been in charge of the training session. I asked about it then on this board but no-one took notice. I thought the papers had got Ian Rush and Kevin Keegan mixed up. Apparently it wasn't so. Well done Lauri!

Well I knew the name, of course, because I'm Finnish. However, I didn't really know that much about him or about clubs that might have been interested. He wasn't much in the limelight or a regular in the national team at that point. Willem was not a high profile club, so news about his performances were few. The transfer to Liverpool was certainly a bit out of the blue for me. In fact, I thought he was a midfielder, just another of those who were good enough to go abroad, but nothing special...

IIRC, before joining Chelsea he mentioned that his heart was set on becoming the manager of another club but it didn't materialize so he had to make a decision with his head. I think that he had hoped to join us at that point, but we had chosen Benitez instead he had to settle for loads of money. Anyway, the real question is "Was it in or not?" If Jose is finally ready to admit that it in fact was in, THEN I'd be ready to CONSIDER him, IF Rafa is not here anymore.

I think I saw him play for Portugal on Wednesday against Finland. Didn't do much I guess, because C.Ronaldo was the only real threat for them. In other words, Sami has a fairly recent scouting report on him...

I know it was only one game, but Quaresma did not shine yesterday against Finland in Porto. After reading Kaizer raving about him here, I was expecting a lot more. He wasted several freekicks and seemed to blast all his shots high. Eventually he was subbed. Sad to say but Placcy was much more effective...
