Maybe so, mate. But I think that excuse was valid about 3 months ago. We have a player who makes wobbly decisions on a regular basis, couple that with the fact he's a keeper and it's always going to be highlighted due to him being the last line of defence. If a large cluster of people, whether it's on here or the rest of the general public, are making the same points then there's a clear issue there would you not agree?

Not particularly But you can't deny there's a clear issue with him that needs addressing.

I must be honest, and I know there's a zero tolerance rule with negativity which is fine, but like it or not we need a new first choice keeper. I know there's been times when Mignolet has saved us points and I still believe he's the best shot stopper in the league - I am NOT denying that, but if we are looking to push on next year, reclaim the league and make a statement in Europe he is not the man for such a side. Yes, all keeper's make mistakes and I'm ready for a barrage of opinions on that too, but of all the top sides in the world today look at their keepers (Neuer, Cech, Casillas, Courtois, Buffon, Sirigu) Even the inconsistencies of Valdes, de Gea etc. They are still more well rounded goalkeepers than Simon is. I'm not saying i want him gone from the squad, I don't, I do like him but give him competition, give him that extra drive to improve. As it stands, and for the foreseeable future, we need better.

I knew we'd miss Hendo but seeing it in the flesh makes it even more prominent. Palace is going to be very difficult without him. Thought Allen did well, Skrtel was immense, Sterling absolute quality, Suarez looks more comfortable on his own (However I think Sturridge looks better without Suarez so that's by no means a criticism). Johnson aside I was disappointed with Sakho today. I've stuck up for him through everything and he will become a consistent performer but he was bloody awful today. No composure, dreadful on the ball, seemed in two minds the whole way through. Thought Flanno's had better games as well and he was beaten far too easily for Snodgrass' goal but oh well. WE GO AGAIN

I'm worried that we're going to see Gerrard being too exposed tomorrow due to Jordan not being there to compensate for the running in midfield. Hopefully Allen will cement himself in the centre of the park and use his distribution that we know he has to make up for the energy levels that Hendo's absence will highlight.

Agreed, we have no reason to part with any of our star players. We'll have adequate funds to buy who we need in the summer. League position, CL money, TV revenue, 1 or 2 fringe players off the books.
