I think Alonso regularly has more effect on a game than Gerrard does. Thats not to say i think Alonso is better. Its not easy buying players who are 'better' than our home grown players because they are so good. Benitez hasnt got the luxury of more home grown players in the same class coming through though, unless I missed somone. Even Utd flouroshed on their home grown players for many years, apart from Roy Keane. Now they have to spend 30m to buy players like that. Who is Chelsea's best player? Homegrown John Terry?
