This was my exact thinking. We dont need two world class CB;s either. Agger needs to become the main man in there. He brings so much attacking wise to compliment his solidity in defence. Need a Hyypia like character to play beside him and the defence would be sturdier. As has been mentioned I reckon Masch leaving has made the defence look a lot weaker, as he no doubt hid a lot of the problems last season by playing in his style.

No? An att Mid/ SS means theyre up their permanently. Being given licence to run forward from midfield is entirely different and Meireles spent more time in midfield that running forward. Your stat on Kuyt vs Babel is also daft. Kuyt contributes so much more than goals.

Meireles was not a 2nd striker, nor an attacking midfielder. Lucas was the DM, with the other two in front. Meireles was breaking to join torres as appropriate and Spearing was chasing down everton players.

Delighted with the first half. Still pleased with the second despite the obvious mani 7 minutes at the start. Good overall, with obvious defensive fixes needed fairly soon.
