Romario

A mate of mine who doesn't follow football much anymore but knows the game watched MOTD with me last night. After watching the Chelsea match he made the comment "Ahh since the sky thingy I see football has gone all WWF" Hard to argue.Once you're in the special group of the top 2/3 decisions come your way. Just got to get there as I'll happily go along with such decisions when they go our way but it's a pain when it doesn't . That Terry decision and his excuse afterwards was a total joke. That ref should be banned from prem games for a year as it was totally crazy. If we come second this season with around 9 points difference then it's refs that have cost us.

He looks rock hard aul Weir! Wouldn't like to meet him down a dark alley.

Was Willem van Hanegem very good? Can't say I ever got to see him play or if I did I didn't realise it was him. The reason I ask is I worked with a guy for about 5 years who mentioned one day rather casually when playing pro evo in work (he played the classic Dutch team) said there's my uncle out there referring to Van Hanegem.

Most people are doing exactly the same thing on here although for far far less money

Crouch must be pinching himself every bloody day he wakes up. Signs for Liverpool Liverpool sell Baros Liverpool fail to sign Owen Morienties gets injured Crouch leads Liverpool out as the main striker in our defence of the champions league. Even I'm pinching myself now...

I actually think we are doing a good job here. Real don't even need him on the bench any more. He's totally surplus to requirements there. I think as long as Real get their money back on him with perhaps an extra million or two then I can't see an issue especially if Owen demands Liverpool as is first choice. Did we not read that Owen had been talking to Liverpool over the last couple of months! If so he knows the score and knows how much we want him and how much the manager wants him. It's doing everyones head in but I think we might get Owen hand have saved 3-4 million that can be used in areas already talked about.

Because he scores goals and we need goals! It's really that simple. I'd be sad for Cisse if he was axed to pay for Owen and I do think it would make Owen unpopular with many fans so I hope it doesn't come down to that. What I am surprised at is the total lack of cash offered to Rafa to do his job. I know we've been big spenders but I can't imagine we spent all our funds last year banking on winning the CL last summer and qualifying this year so surely there is cash somewhere.

If Owen played zero games until xmas and then joined us playing up until the summer he'd walk into the England team. I really can't see how Owen's place is under threat at all.

Ouch! I thought it was practically a done deal about a week ago. Well lets hope it works out. I'd be so surprised if he went to the toon. What a stepdown.

I don't understand. Who are you talking about?

I agree. We earned s*** loads more that expected last year by winning the EC and now we've just qualified for it again. Unless we were doing a Leeds on it and gambling on winning it there is money. I'm hoping to be blown away with 3 signings by next week. I'm either an optimistic idiot or justan idiot.

Imagine if Rafa simply didn't want Owen and wasn't playing games at all with his CB and LM filed mantra all along.

Well what he said was there has been no contact between Real and Liverpool or Owen and Liverpool. He said he's not interested in a striker as he's looking for a centre back and not a centre forward. Posts merged: Aggghhh!!! It's starting already. "He looked to the right when mentioning Owen so he must be lying" CLOSE THIS THREAD!

An accumulator!

Ok to make this press conference interesting lets guess how many times Rafa says possibilities... I'm guessing 5

Out of interest why do we do press conferences other than when someone signs? No one gets anything out of Rafa so they are a complete waste of time. Must be a pain in the back side knowing you have to head to Liverpool to interview Rafa. "Yep he answered everything I asked him but told me nothing....again" Personally I like the way he keeps business to himself but find these outings pointless.

A lot of players these days can't sign their own names so it saves them the embarrassment. Rio springs to mind. Posts merged: They could show it in wide screen but flipped horizontally!?

Wahoo we can spend the rest of the afternoon fine combing every word, eye movement and gesture Rafa makes and come to the conclusion that, Owen seems most likely to sign when Baros goes to either Lyon for loads of cash or Villa for crap cash but Solano comes the other way. Cisse is 100% staying and going and where the hell is our big name centre back ffs's!!!

Excellent! Deffo need him for the first champ league game with Gerrard suspended Alonso out and Smicer and Kewell coming back from injuries! Perhaps this time he could make an impact right from the start!!

Hahaa! Who would play in our midfield?
