  1. I read this, went to the toilet and was finally able to drop one. Cheers.
  2. Wow, that is genuinely shameless. He'll be chiding Isak for refusing reconciliatory meetings at the embassy next.
  3. Basically all these stories of players going AWOL seem to end up with the player being sold the next summer. Which doesn't bode well for me.
  4. Shouldn't he be handing in a transfer request at this point?

    Welcome VvD

In the PFA team of the year for a fifth time now. Of defenders, only Rio Ferdinand (6) and Gary Neville (lol) have featured more times than him now.
  6. Him and Henry are the only ones to win the writers player of the year three times as well. Feels weird for him to receive it when the new season is already underway. Whoever thought moving the award to late august was a good idea was completely wrong.
  7. "Look, we fired the ones who made promises and also the ones who walked back those promises. So how can he be upset with anyone at the club?"
  8. So it is because he played for Tottenham once? Lame.
  9. It's only slightly less bonkers that Babel was genuinely being compared to a young Henry when he was here.
  10. Without question.
  11. This must be because he used to play for spurs or something. Modric is a six time CL winner, Balon D'or winner, world cup golden Ball winner and has an outrageous catalogue of performances where he drives his team to victory on the biggest stages of world football. It's not a slight in any way that Gerrard wasn't as good. Modric is in the rarified echelon of best-of-all-time midfielders alongside Xavi and Matthaus. Next you'll be saying Gerrard was better than Xavi as well.
  12. You laugh, but I think it would have been achievable.
  13. His contract expires next year. So sure, they might need to cover the difference for a year. Don't think that is what is separating the parties here.
  14. He could have been as good as Modric for example.
  15. Sancho has rejected Roma after united accept their offer of 20m. He wants to wait for other clubs to try and match his 250k salary. f***ing lol.
  16. I know, I am not saying that to diminish gerrard or benitez. It's just that Klopp improved the players he worked with immensely. And I think with that in mind, Gerrard could have been better than Salah. And yes, we'd be sitting pretty with 21+ titles and another CL trophy. As for who he replaces, that's not the question. Rather, who gets to play alongside him.
  17. I think we all know nothing will happen until after we play them. At all.
  18. I thought he looked a lot more like someone like Falcao in those games. Great intensity coupled with pace and power and technique good enough to back it up. With basically everything he did and was good at serviced to putting it in the back of the net. Or a fast Davor Suker even. Who was/like Torres? I don't know... Shevchenko maybe.
  19. Is playing brilliantly whilst being tall and fast enough to be Torres-like? He never came anywhere near the elegance and composure Torres had on the ball, the outrageous dribbles at high pace whilst looking like he has all the time and touches needed in the world to place his finish. That was Torres. I am not sure I can think of any strikers he reminds me of,tbh.
  20. I don't think Gerrard the player we knew would necessarily be the best player in Klopp's side at all times. Gerrard the hypothetical player coached by Klopp would though. You know Klopp would know exactly how to harness his talent to the maximum. He's everything Klopp would want in a player and Klopp is everything Gerrard needed from a manager and never got. Alas, since that never happened I still maintain Salah was/is the better and more impactfull player.
  21. People also saw Torres in Nunez and that was literally just because he was tall and fast.
  22. Time to dunk their heads in the toilet and flush once again this summer. Then do it again the week after when Isak signs.
  23. Probably yes. Which is probably also borne out from his overall career. Probably the best non-messi-ronaldo forward in the Messi-ronaldo era.
  24. We're talking about a player who broke the PL scoring record in his debut season. Who equalled the Goal contributions record last season. Who is the only one alongside Henry to win Player of the year three times. And the only one alongside Henry to be top scorer in the league four times. He's the most scoring player ever against man United and it's not even close. His performances last season is the closest semblance a player has come to single handedly winning the league for your team since Elkjaer did it for Verona. If anything I think Salah's achievements stand out less because he played with team mates who would also do great things. It's him and Henry as the best in PL History and then the rest.
  25. Of course he's one of our greats. And sits very near to the top of the echelon. It's just that Salah is a greater player than he was.
