Him being a great manager last year i guess was due to a previous manager sorting out us having the best striker in the world, who scored goals more or less when he felt like it. He said it himself, he don't have time on the training pitch as last season, resulting in him having to change the way he trains and manages the team. The concerning part for me is he has shown that he can't buy players in terms of making the team stroner and also that it came as a surprise to him that we had to play more games with the CL. (He managed to solve the problem with so many games in record time though.)
