SS guard: You have to choose between your son Jan, or your daughter Eva. You can keep one, and I'll take the other. Sophie: Take Adam. He's always sick anyway.
It was just parochial decision making again. Klopp had thrashed us by more than Ancelotti ever had, so we predictably went with the one who impressed against us.
Neal Maupay of Brentford? Good in close spaces, scores and assists, provides needle, plays across the front line, young. On the downside, Championship team, short, not overly quick.
How are we on the homegrown squad requirements? What will the requirements be post-Brexit? Are we going to stick with the trained with the association that we have now, or are we going back to the national squad eligibility rule circa early 90s? The former is AFAIK a compromise between UEFA and EU employment laws. The PL seems to want to move towards the latter.
I suspect he'd be even more useful for the club were he to finish his studies and turn to the administrative side of things. That's where we've been ridiculously weak over the years. It would be nice to have someone who is au fait with football, who is good at talking to people, and who is qualified administratively as well.
It could be because we've used him differently. He's at his best when nominally a box to boxer but in the main playing as an impact player. While he can run up and down, the less we rely on him to do that the better he looks, and more importantly the more productive he is at the sharp end of the pitch. Can is much better than him at doing the control side of midfield work. Lucas and Allen too, but they've pretty much been made obsolete by Can's improvement, with Allen shifting forward and Lucas back if they're to find a place in the squad.
