What's the difference, and what did the lino do today?

BBC article Never heard of them before, the article explains why. 2nd division 3 years ago, title contenders this year, oh that'll be another Russian billionaire then. This is not going to be a stroll

...Great article in The Mirror When doesassault and battery in the box not deserve a penalty? In a contestof men against boys, how does the team including three teenagers look so superior? And in the words of the great chat showhost himself, what do we think about the pedestrianisation of Norwich citycentre? For Brendan Rodgers, relief at his firstPremier League win as Liverpool manager was far outweighed bySuarez's breathtaking performance and a thrilling glimpse of the future. Two draws, three defeats and a smatteringof hard-luck stories into his reign, Rodgers handed 19-year-old Wisdom andSuso, 18, their first starts in the Prem along with 17-year-old veteran RaheemSterling. Suarez, who now leaves East Anglia with thematch ball as a rite of passage, scored three, missed the easiest chance of thelot, teed up Nuri Sahin for Liverpool's third goal and was denied the clearestof clear-cut penalties. Leon Barnett's unorthodox challenge –knees, pushes, all fall down – included elbowing the Uruguayan with a movementreminiscent of a bell-ringer or a baker kneading his dough. Either way, referee Mike Jones should haveused his loaf and looked beyond Suarez's history of thespian falls because itwas about four penalties rolled into one. Full article in Mirror

Saw an article of an interview with BR shortly after he arrived explaining that Swansea last year had the lead in a game against Wigan (I think) and then kept losing the ball to them eventually losing 2-1. He said that in training the next week they practiced for the whole week on how to defend with the ball and in the following match where they had a lead they kept the ball for minutes at a time both frustrating and tiring the opponents. We are making great strides and tronight was great to see how much technical ability there is coming up through the ranks, these players and many of our established players (not Downing though) will be able to do this very well by mid season. The old Shanks/Paisley adage: "If they don't have the ball they can't score"

You don't need to he's given you the link

Anyone bothered to work out the average age of that team? Without Carra of course:)
-
Will the FA still fine us for fielding a weakened team?
-
He heard you

Is this pretty much the same lineup for WBA that we played at the start of the season?
-
wiziwig/coolsportz is quite good
-
Ha ha - and he cost about the same as the other 10 together
-
Well it looks like we've got a better squad than I thought

Copy of what I posted in the match thread. Shelvey v Johnny boy someone I've just watched and watched and watched again, normal speed, slo mo, freeeze frame. Normal speed, looks like Shelvey is doing a Scholes, lost it and desparate to win it back although the ginger cant tackle, looks like a lunge. Slo Mo, Johnny boy is 4 yards form the ball and running flat out whilst Jonjo is about two yards from the ball and just starting to move after the challenge on Giggs, Johnny boy launches himself from about 3 yards out (reasonable committed challenge to me) but the rules dont agree. Jonjo moving slower, from about 5 feet out goes for the ball with his right foot, Evans is totally airborne with both sets of studs showing, both players connect with the ball at about the same time with the ball coming off Jonjos right heel,. carry through of momentum (mostly Evans's) Jonjos right boot gets buried into Evans's shinpad. Freeze frame: Evans is airborne with all 12 studs showing at least 12 inches off the ground whilst Jonjo's left foot is still firmly on the playing surface and his right is reaching out to try to win the ball. Neither player really complained as they both knew they had really gone for it but intended to win the ball not end each others careers, a couple of manc t***s threw their arms in the air claiming greivious assault but in fairness to Evans he didn't. What struck me as unusual is the the prick in black walked away to get instructions over his headset, now he was 10 feet from the incident, who could possibly have seen it more clearly than him. Erm actually no-one could so how could they give him directions. Seriously having watched the incident 30-40 times had Jonjo not got to the ball he would have been seriously injured, and there is absoloutely no question that evans was showing all 12 studs whilst Jonjos left foot was still on the grass. I really do believe (after years of refusing to) that the ManU circus is influencing reasonable refereeing due to the financial influence of their f***ing tawdry brand. I honestly believe this has merit to be brought up with the FA, if the g******* in black is incompetent then ok- fire him, if he's biased (not against us but towards the financial giant) then fine, fire him. In fairness, the Evra tackle on Sterling was clean, they both got to the ball at the same time, Raheem didn't try to claim anything either (which he never does, I'm getting more and more impressed with this kids intelligence and attitude) Also in fairness the penalty should have been a red card for that diving cheating c***, he was almost on his knees before Glen caught up with him. Whatever having watched the whole game again in the relative calm of knowing the outcome - we were kin brilliant with 11 then with 10, I have not seen the mancs so outclassed by us or anyone else for 20 years. No complacencey here, just saying lets not have too much doom and gloom and lets support the manager and the team.

I agree mate, I dont think Evans would have complained, they both went for the ball (and not each other) in a good full blooded tackle which is what the game wants and needs, not a snidey foot out or throwing yourself over someone elses leg to get a foul but a full proper hard fair challenge. Further to my question above, who the hell did Halsey get directions from? A - 4th official B - FA Headshed who are about to be sued C - Sir Alex Ginsoak or D - Skysports/Foxsoccerchannel/owners of all commercial football on the planet and a couple of s***ty libellous newsrags who are also about to be sued and bankrupted. Owned by an Australian Plutocrat who agrees that scum of the earth working class football supporters have no rights in a civil society. It's late at night and it's been an emotional day so I'm going for D

I agree with your points too. I was primarily addressing the inequity in refereeing decisions and in particular Jonjos red card. I have been fuming and sick all day and wondered, just wondered, if it was wishful thinking on my part ( and 99% of the board here) that Jonjo was innocent so I had to go back and satisfy myself rather than rely on opinions from the board - and he definitely is, or at least they are both guilty (Evans more than Jonjo cos all studs wre showing before the contact with the ball) All your other points are true but they weren't what I was trying to address I don't have the emotional capacity to go there right now. Points are all that matter at the end of the day, but I'm sure you and I both have been to Anfield and seen us pick up the points but wonder "how the hell can we be that lucky next week". With an ingrained system where football at all levels of the club is played in the same style and with the same ethos (Ajax 60's 70's, Barca 70's 90's 00's, Liverpool 70's 80's) there is a bedrock to build upon and success can follow. Unfortunately I've already written off this season for glory, which is not altogether bad as we can build proper roots again having got rid of H & G. The academy output seems to be absoloutely outstanding and we may be in for a renaissance like the Mancs with Beckham, Scholes Giggs et al team. I don't think I'm clutching at straws but I don't want us to be some billionaires plaything. A mix of young scousers, foreign young talent through the academy and the occasional superstar (although even Kenny wasn't a superstar, juist a brilliant number 7 team player - which epitomises what I'm trying to get at) we will be ok with this style of play. I just had to say something after pages and pages of people saying we need this.... we need that... we need him.... we need a good this, that or the other. What we do have is a good promising manager, who believes in a total football culture, he's had about 10 competitive games and only I think five with this squad since the window closed, give him a chance. We are not going to get relegated, we are not goint to win the league this year, we are unlikely to make top four...... And no I'm not happy about it but he is not Merlin and fortunately (in the long term) FSG are not some bunch of Theiving Russian Ogliarchs who could dump us at a whim. I really like the way we are trying to play, I have enjoyed watching us boss people around so much and how quickly the philosophy is being adapted to. If people insist upon instant results lets get Carra to bang it up field all day - good old fashioned direct football eh. This way takes time, patience and intelligence.

Henderson Wisdom - very impressive even without the goal Shelvey - not always been impressed with him but he has been v good this year, could have picked him at 1 but the other two were on for the whole 90
-
Totally agree, even in just two competitive matches we've had this has been apparent. Last few seasons it has been so annoying to see play come to a standstill, ball dead still then it gets played all the way back tp Pepe for him to try and get things moving again.

I'd go with that too some brilliant link ups between the three
