2. we buy another backup/squad player-type central midfield to cover for Momo/Xabi/Hamann, put Gerrard on the right on a constant basis and use the cash to buy a world class striker?

striker is the most important thing. When you look at the players we'd have if we went for one or the other. At right mid, we've still got SteG and Garcia and the likes of Krompkamp as back up, and Kewell more than able to play there as well. But at forward, our backups are the likes of Sinama and Mellor, players who simply ain't that good.

Definitely option two - use the cash to buy a top striker. Either Torres/Kuyt would do me just fine, and bearing in mind we already have Gonzales and Paletta coming in it would still be a decent summer. Throw in a couple of possible Bosman's (Aurelio to strengthen left back, Victor to give us an option on the right) and we can significantly improve the squad this summer, even with only one big expensive signing.

Ideally I'd like to see two top class strikers and a top class right winger, but thats ideally of course.

 

Striker is the priority though - I don't think you'll find a single poster who disagrees with that to be honest. Personally I'd make a second striker priority ahead of a right midfielder!

 

We're already awesome in midfield, but seriously lacking up front. Yes, a thrilling winger for the right would be nice, but we already have Gerrard, Garcia and soon Gonzales who can play there...
