hows Barragan done since he's been back...or hasnt he been back long?

He's playing well. Liverpool are excellent defensively and he normally offers a threat going forward too.

Liverpool are 2-0 up with both goals coming from Calliste.

It feels like we play a lot of ruttin reserve games compared to past years. Maybe people just pay more attention cause we have some good prospects now.

how come he's allowed to play against us?

looks like another successful loan move

Bizarre situation for Florent to be getting the odd taste of our 1st team and then go on loan to Blackburn and not get a look in.

I can see him moving on in the summer. Shame, I had high hopes.

Young Reds (and Jerzy) won

As well as Pongy, Rovers had Kuqi and Amoruso in their team an all.

CALLISTE AT THE DOUBLE TO SINK BLACKBURN

Welsh Under-21 international striker Ramon Calliste was a double marksman as Liverpool Reserves beat a strong Blackburn Rovers outfit 2-1 at Ewood Park on Monday night.

It was a deserved victory for a young Liverpool team who had Jerzy Dudek in goal. On loan Liverpool striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle played the full 90 minutes for Blackburn and scored a late consolation goal from close range in stoppage time.

Calliste, who had earlier had a goal disallowed for off-side, opened the scoring after 24 minutes when he capitalised on a mistake from Gary Stopforth to run clean through, dribble round keeper Richard Lee and slot the ball into the net. It was Calliste's sixth goal of the season for the reserves.

It was 2-0 six minutes later and again Calliste was the scorer. Danny Guthrie's superb through ball sent the Welshman clean through and his finish was cool and precise.

Liverpool fielded young starlets Jack Hobbs, Godwin Antwi, Paul Anderson, Adam Hammill and Miki Roque, all of whom will be involved in the FA Youth Cup Final on Thursday. In the absence of the suspended Lee Peltier, Roque played in a central midfield rold alongside Hobbs.

The Reds also welcomed back 17-year-old Austrian Besian Idrizaj who was on the bench after being out for two months with a foot injury.

Sinama-Pongolle partnered Finnish international Shefki Kuqi in the attack but had a largely ineffective match for Blackburn and couldn't really get into the game until his 90th minute goal. Former Rangers centre half Lorenzo Amorusu also featured in a strong Rovers team.

Dudek was called into the action straight away after two minutes when he reacted well to dive low to his right to keep out a fiercely struck Kuqi free-kick. In truth the Champions League hero in Istanbul didn't have a lot to do on the night but was constantly encouraging the young defenders around him and gave good distribution.

Kuqi had another good chance after seven minutes when he got goal side of Danny O'Donnell but shot the wrong side of the post and wide. The Finn was in the thick of the action and two minutes later he had an even better chance from a right wing cross, but could only head over the bar from close range.

Calliste then had a goal disallowed for off-side after 12 minutes, as he neatly tucked away Anderson's cross.

Liverpool were appealing for a penalty after 15 minutes when a surging run from Hammill saw him taking on the Blackburn defence single handedly. He went down in the penalty area under a challenge but the penalty was turned down.

Calliste then scored two opportunist goals in six minutes to give Liverpool a 2-0 lead.

Anderson almost made it 3-0 after 43 minutes but his fierce drive was saved by Lee. The move came from a counter attack as previously at the other end Anderson had cleared an effort off the line to deny Amorusu from a corner.

Two minutes later Guthrie tried his luck with a lob that dipped just over the bar.

After 65 minutes Sinama-Pongolle had a great chance for Blackburn but could only shoot wide from close range following a good low cross from the left wing.

This was an excellent all-round team display from Liverpool and once again O'Donnell and Antwi were pretty solid at the heart of the Reds defence, ably assisted by the always consistent James Smith and Antonio Barragan.

Blackburn Rovers Reserves: Lee, Kane, Olsson (Garner 73), Stopforth, Amoruso, Nolan, Woods, Byrom (Treacy 65), Kuqi, Sinama-Pongolle, Peter.

Liverpool Reserves: Dudek, Barragan, Smith, Antwi, O'Donnell, Hobbs, Anderson, Roque (Flynn 81), Calliste (Idrizaj 85), Guthrie (Foy 80), Hammill. Subs not used: Martin, Woods.

Referee: P Quinn.

Liverpoolfc.tv Man of the Match:: Ramon Calliste. Sharp all night and took his goals superbly. Danny Guthrie, Miki Roque and Jack Hobbs also had fine games in midfield.

I think the real problem with pongolle and le tallec is we didnt get the soon enough

I don't think he'll get a look in. He's hardly set the world on fire since his arrival and Lindfield is playing very well.

Yeah but they've been playing Anderson out of position up front. Think he played well enough in the youth cup games, got a couple of goals IIRC
