Fagan Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Highly-rated Spain striker David Villa has reached an agreement to extend his contract with Valencia until June 2013. The 24-year-old hitman has made a big impression since joining the Che club from Real Zaragoza last summer. Villa, whose original deal ran until June 2009, has greatly contributed to his team's current second position in the Primera Liga standings having netted 15 league goals this season. He is not only his club's top scorer this term but is also the leading Spanish goalscorer in La Liga, only four strikes from overall leader Samuel Eto'o of Barcelona. His performances have also been noticed by Spain coach Luis Aragones, who called up Villa for their recent friendlies and is set to include the striker in his World Cup squad. Villa has previously been linked with a move to Liverpool, where manager Rafael Benitez is reportedly planning a serious overhaul of his strikers following a barren season. But news of Villa's new deal means a switch to Anfield look increasingly unlikely. 'ERE
