I thought it might be an idea to have a specific topic on the Ashes separate from ongoing matches in whatever format. The object would be to begin with our initial thoughts 6 months out and engage in sensible discussions on broader themes rather than the in-play minutiae.

What are our initial thoughts, at this distance, on how the series will go.? Who is on the plane and who not? Bazball or “proper test cricket?” Etc Etc

First bite: England could be capable of winning 3 tests. The batters 1-7 are settled with just a Pope/Bethell conundrum at 3 and could/should get some big scores. Taking 20 wickets may be another matter. Someone kick us off on the quicks. I’d be leaving Shoab at home and taking Rehan (and Dawson?). They can both bat too. Quite fancy wickets 9/10  adding 80 or more.
