When does it finish?

Is always the May Bank Holiday Monday isn't it?

Not seen any of it yet and probably won't make a point of watching unless O'Sullivan looks like he's hitting his straps.

In a weird way, as the depth of quality has increased the game has suffered a bit - when we were kids, it was the same 16 lads almost every year and you kind of felt like you knew them.

Higgins, Davis, Reardon, Thorburn, Griffiths, Knowles, Meo and his tappy hands, Stevens with his whie suit (probably to hide the flecks of coke), Werbeniuk and his 50 pints a match, White, Taylor and his waggy finger, Virgo and his s*** impersonations, Spencer.... Hendry and Parrott a little bit later on...am sure a good few of them were s****, but at least most of them seemed to have their own selling point (even if in the case of Thorburn it was that he was f***ing dull).

Joe Johnson was a good bit of randomness as well.

Seems to be a bit of a carousel of nobodies these days which changes each year, after the top 3 or 4 anyway. Though maybe that is just cos it is harder to find time to watch now. The strength in depth is obviously better for the game long term.

Joe Davies, Steady Eddie Charlton and the other Taylor - David "the Silver Fox".

Jumpers for goalposts isn't it.

My dad used to manage Higgins so I was about the circut during my teens, eye opening the stuff they got up to. Except Davis, he was always practicing.

think his lack of matchplay toughness may count against him in the final

i.e. he's had it too easy

But then I think his Aura makes up for that, pressure because he is there. Not sure if the other two can take 18 off him. Think Robertson has a better chance then Selby.

'The Jester from Leicester' has to be one of the s****st nicknames in sport, by the way.

Suppose it is better than 'molester', like.

Don't watch much snooker but when did this Rob Walker guy start doing the MC'ing?

Seems a right buffoon.

He's a blert isn't he?

I remember him interviewing Ben Ainslie after the last race in London. f***ing clueless. Ainslie looked like he wanted to drown him.
