Stressederic's Armistice Day

I've just defeated the forces of nature to submit my PhD thesis.

5 long gruelling years of First World War writing and research (longer than the war took) it's all over.

The amount of time I've spent on here over the last few years has both helped and distracted me from my work. But you're all a great bunch regardless of whatever disagreements we have over football etc.

So thanks everyone.

He's shot himself.

They did that sort of thing then there in those days. They were dead hard.

"That's all from me.", they'd say. "Toodlepip, I may be gone for some time. Goodnight Vienna.". And then BANG! Brown bread.

So that's what's next.

So what now, Eric?

What now?

I'm going to Seaworld!

Alternatively; I've got my viva at somepoint in April. So I'm going to put my thesis away for a while and ignore it. I'm also going to have a meeting with some people at the uni about a potential project and job for the First World War centenary which should help keep me in the slothful existence to which I've become accustomed.

What was it on Eric? Give us a synopsis.

Congrats on getting it in, have you got a viva as well?

It was about relationships between British and French soldiers in the trenches. Ordinarily I would give you a fuller synopsis than that but I just don't have it in me today.

So something that's always puzzled me about the Great War, Eric, is what exactly happened? And why?

Was it mad?

Nah it was a doddle mate. An awful lot of people needed to man the f*** up.

Well done Eric. Does this mean you can f*** off now and leave us be?

Fat f***ing chance. I've got *even* more time to piss away on here now.

i always assumed he was a sockpuppet. some kind of forum monitoring and measurement project.

yeah - its probably time to tell him that he's the control subject...

Is that not still the case?

Good man Eric you going to drop the stressed now or ramp it up little till it's awarded

I imagine I'll always be Stressederic. I don't want to let this change me. I'm still the same man.

5 years to write?

War. England v Germany. 1914-1918. England won. Lots died.

what have i missed?

The poetry. The endless poetry.

And we shall miss him.

Crashingly superb sort of fellow. Tall, clean limbed. Even his acne had a strange sense of nobility about it.
