The Aussie Open has started amid apparently brutal heat.

Last year saw 4 different winners of the 4 grand-slams, the first time that has happened since about '96. What for this year? Djok is going for a hattrick of Aussies, will Federer finally succumb & become human, will Nadal fall to pieces?

Don't see 4 different winners this year, Nadal's out again, so maybe a chance for Tsonga or someone to make a mark? Otherwise it could be depressingly all Djok, if he really starts firing

You mention Tsonga but not Murray!?!

Will you ever learn?

Murray goes w/o saying. Injuries/horrific form apart he should make at least 2 finals.

Tsonga is just a name I picked out of thin air as I've seen him play. Looking at the bubbling unders -

Ferrer - maybe a bit too old to win one now

Del Potro

Berdych

Tsonga

Don't know much about the youngsters but there don't seem to be any ready to really push hard yet

Del Potro seems the most likely of that group of 4 to step up but we've been saying that since his US Open win.

He was out injured for over a year with a pretty serious wrist injury and doesnt seem to have recovered sufficiently. Whether that is physical or mental, who knows.

Good to see Murray cruise through. Into another semi final, probably against Federer. He's 2-1 up on Tsonga

He's had the least on court time of all semi finalists, which should mean he is fresh

Scratch that. Its 2-2. Played 3 hours so far, can only help Murray

Ferrer must be the next to win a grand slam

Dont think he is good enough. Certainly not against the top 4. He's consistent against everyone else but doesnt really have the tools to beat the top 4 imo

Just hope Murray doesn't choke vs Federer. Federer seems to have the indian sign over him in GS tournaments but the US win, esp the way it was won, should give Murray the belief that he can overcome pretty-much anything now if he stays on game

Dont think he'll choke.

Theyve played 3 times in the past, but obviously Murray has now won a GS and beaten him at the Olympics. He's certainly strengthened physically and mentally since the Wimbledon. A lot in his favour, but its a real 50/50
