Does Kenny intend to use Martin Kelly mainly at centre half this season.....

I think everyone is agreed that the decision to prefer Flanagan to Kelly at right back was surprising to say the least.

Looking at the bench, with Skrtel injured, and Soto left out completely, Kelly was obviously the fallback option in the event of an injury to either Carra or Agger.

If we fail to get a new CB in before the close of the window, I wonder if that is where we will see Kelly play the most this season.

I like Flanagan, and think he is a fantastic prospect, but strongly feel that if Johnson does not make the Arsenal game next weekend, that Kelly should start at right back.

I'm not agreeing with that at all, Kenny played Flanagan there a lot last season, not surprising one bit that he played today.

The Sunderland fans seem to unanimously think he isn't a RW/RM. I don't think he has the attributes to play there either. Playing players with his technicalities on the right is only going to lead to narrow play which is what we've presumably tried this summer to avoid through signing quality wide players. He has all the attributes to make a very tidy CM, I hope he gets games there.

Wrong thread, although an easy mistake and your talking s**** regarding Sunderland fans. You've been quite outstanding today!

unanimously? what forums are you reading? Even Bruce said yesterday he'll probably end up as a RM

Don't think he played RM anyway, it was more of a tucked in role, the position many had him down for when he signed. I like him there he's pretty mobile and can deliver a decent cross from deep. He needs games and today will have done him good. I can see Dirk starting next week mind.

Not even close, all Sunderland fans I know and questioned following his signing stated that right midfield suited him his delivery from a moving ball was very good however delivery from a deadball was appalling.

Means we won't have to train it into him...

I've had a bad day.

I don't think Henderson has the pace to play on the right though.

This still has nothing to do with Martin Kelly. Damn you Iver.
