In the book, one thing that was clearly mentioned was that the front office ran things and the manager Art Howe was just a puppet...

Wouldn't Roy be a perfect stool pigeon in this case?

[Lee W]

He's the perfect stool alright. Almost better than the ones my 2 year old produces.

About 40 pages in so can't really comment. Good story so far if nothing else.

One of the things that came out for me was that Art Howe was undervalued by Beane. There was a decision he called right and stuck to that got them places. Pushing on from that overall, it was for me a conclusion of neither way having all the answers and the long view of the sabre guys needing to be tempered by the guts and feel for the occasion, namely the players who probably needed to be given their head in the play offs. There is a line from Beane about his s*** not working in the play offs that backs that up

I m not bothering, it sounds dull as f*** given the available opposition from the book world

[Maldini]

It's not dull, it's actually a great read.
