Travelling to London

Planning on taking our first trip to the UK in the first or second week of April (yes I'm an OOC;er who has never been to anfield etc etc etc).

Anyway will be travelling from the states with wife and 20 month old daughter. Will probably be there for about 6 days. Want a centrally located hotel close to transportation and the usual touristy stuff. Something family friendly and reasonably priced. I do get discounts at Starwood hotels (Sheraton, Four seasons etc) but other suggestions are welcome. Thinking of making a quick trip over to Paris on the train.

Also, what weather can I expect and will I understand the Cockney accent?
