Breakfast of Champions

I would have put this into a general book thread, but it's so fecking good it deserves its own thread.

Not even going to try to describe what it's about, except it's a piece of feckin brilliant writing. Not as political as Slaughterhouse 5, but far more enjoyable.

I daresay it's in my top 10 favourite books ever

Dunno why I've not read this, love his other stuff that I've read. He was a top bloke too was Kurt, always gave quality interviews!

Slaughterhouse 5 and Breakfast of Champions are both in my to read pile.

I have read Cat's Cradle though, which is a really strange book.

You won't regret reading them - a very great and individualistic writer.

Slaughterhouse 5 is a brilliant book and I must get a copy and re read it. It was first recommended to me and a group of mates by a Mancunian biology teacher we had at school who said he'd read it at university and it had changed his outlook on life. Quite how that led to him being a biology teacher i'm not sure but I believe he left the school eventually and went off to be a missionary of some sort. He was one of those interesting science teachers who could happily reconcile being a christian with understanding and accepting evolution by natural selection.

Haven't read B of C's so that can go on my list.

Anyone read 'The Sirens of Titan'?

Yeah, and liked it a lot. Probably becase of the fact I've been always keen on science fiction, I prefered it to all the rest of his books, though the Bresakfast of Champions, Slaughterhouse and the Cat's Cradle are brilliant too.
