LIVERPOOL ANNOUNCE TICKET PRICE FREEZE

Paul Rogers 23 April 2009

Liverpool FC are to freeze prices on all tickets at Anfield for the 2009-10 season.

In fact, for any supporter renewing a season ticket, the price will actually drop compared to the cost for the current campaign as it will reflect a reduction of 2.5% in VAT which will be applied across the whole of next season, despite the government stating the VAT rate will be increased again to 17.5% on January 1st 2010.

At that point, general ticket sale prices will reflect any change made by the government to the VAT rate.

Liverpool Commercial Director Ian Ayre said: "These are clearly difficult economic times and the club believed a price freeze was the right thing to do. All our fans are facing increasing monetary pressures and this is a small thank you to all of them for their continuing loyalty and support.”

Further details, including a breakdown of all ticket prices for the 2009-2010 season and the timescales involved for season ticket renewals will be announced in due course.

the big question is will they freeze the early bird discount or just the full price?

I paid £650 last year for the kop and the full price was £700. I have a feeling that I'll be paying £700 this year which is technically a price freeze, but its not the same as me paying the same amount.

The devil is in the detail

If they don't offer the discount then nobody will renew early which means they will have a massive admin task later on. I reckon there will be an early bird discount but it may not be as generous as previous years. I think I paid £700 for the LC.

Still a lot of money. I'm going to do the honourable thing and volunteer myself to take over one if anyone decides they can't afford it.
